Second Edition July Update Brings Three Errata

by Charlie Plaine, Acting Second Edition Lead Designer

4th July 2011

On Monday, July 4th, 2011, the Second Edition Design Team has released an updated Errata Document. As always, these errata take effect immediately. CRD and Errata updates are usually made on the first Monday of each month.

The Errata document is available for download via the link on the front page, or directly via https://www.trekcc.org/op/ST2EErrata.pdf. This month's errata update contains one new and two revised rulings:

U.S.S. Defiant (Commandeered Warship) -
It has been determined that the original ability on this card is too subversive of one of the game's central forms of conflict and interaction, i.e. facing dilemmas. The previous errata was meant to reduce the number of decks that could use this ability; now, the ability itself has been weakened to a more manageable level of play.

Deanna Troi (Ship's Counselor) -
The ability to remove ships from a players hand, repeatedly, and as early as the first turn, is not something the Design Team wishes to allow. While there hasn't been any major abuse of this card and it is reliant on luck, specific ship denial is a mechanic that is unwelcome in the game's play environment.

Vacation from the Continuum -
This errata is a wording update to make it explicitly clear that this event may trigger only once per mission attempt, no matter how many personnel are involved in the mission attempt. This attempts owner may only blow up a single Q event to gain five extra dilemma draws per mission attempt.

The Second Edition Design Team is scheduled to release an update to the Errata Document on the first Monday of each month. These errata are effective immediately.
