2012 Worlds Date Annoucement

Thank you to everyone who voted. It's time to announce the dates for the 2012 World Championships, as nominated by the players.

The 2012 Star Trek CCG World Championships will be held on the 5th to 9th of September 2012.

The five days covering Wednesday to Sunday will play host to a vast array of awesome Star Trek CCG competition, including the special Australian edition of the World Biermeister Championships, sealed and special format events galore, and of course, the three World Championships across First Edition, Second Edition, and Tribbles CCG!

Over the past week, a number of online and offline correspondence with both Australian and non-Australia players have indicated this was the best time for them to attend, so it's no surprise that more preferences were given to that weekend than the rest. My sincerest apologies to those unable to make this date. As always, I try to satisfy the needs of every player I can, but with so many requests from players around the world, the only fair thing to do was to put it to a vote.

Regarding the 2012 AC and the Worlds: at this stage, the plan is to keep the 2012 AC in its usual position on the first weekend of July. In 2012 that would be the weekend of 30th June/1st July. For those thinking about travelling to one or both events, as the Worlds will be in September, we feel that there is sufficient buffer between this and the Australian Continentals to make both trips feasible. So, feel free to make tentative plans based on that. Note that the final official date for the 2012 AC will be announced later this year or early 2012, and it is yet to be decided how many days the 2012 AC will run for. Keep an eye on the front page of the website for updates on this and other news on the 2012 championship season.
