The Secret Log of Boq'ta the Blue

by Boq'ta

17th December 2011

Friday, Dec 9:

Two months now since I started my new position as a Crewman (Eng.) aboard DS9; think I like it here. So far, everyone incredibly nice to me. Am treated with the respect I deserve. Guys must have been longing for some colour, ha! The Cardassian I charged with fitting my new uniform always tells me the latest news about the war, stuff you don't read in the official reports. Seems to be a reliable source of information, extraordinarily gifted tailor. Love them Cardassians already!

Saturday, Dec 10:
Ferengi barkeep - legitimate businessman - is very useful, offered advice on investment options, helped arrange a fantastic deal - poor fellow doesn't realize old Bluecifer has outsmarted him! Have a feeling I'm going to be a rich man soon!

Monday, Dec 12:
Wonder why everyone's being so nice to me? Not to blow my own horn, but I dare say it can only be explained by that very special combination of a winning personality, smooth azure skin, proficiency- no, scratch that- outstanding expertise in multiple scientific disciplines, and inherent sense of modesty that only a blue brother of Bolarus can have!

Tuesday, Dec 13:
In Quark's, overheard Chief O'Brien mentioning to freak doctor how impressed he was when he saw the Blue Man Group handling all sorts of equipment to run some astrometrics analysis and physics simulations when we evaluated the data salvaged from that damaged Bajoran interceptor last Thursday. Maybe he expected some useless bloke who cannot show that he has taken special classes to qualify for the Engineering, Science AND Medical branches (don't think anybody but me in Starfleet can...) - have to admit, though, that those med classes were quite a while ago. Still, guess if a fist-fight between that hairy Klingon (Woof, or Barf, whatever his name is) and the big Lurian drunkard broke out on the Promenade, all that first aid nonsense would come back quickly. Of course, Bluesy'd rather try and prevent such escalations before they begin. Diplomatic approach for the win! (Bruises don't really go well with my skin.)

Wednesday, Dec 14:
Overheard joke today: What do you call the footwear of an assimilated Bolian? - Blue Swede Shoes. Nope, still not getting it. Bit bummed, always thought I was so smart. Must be dumb joke then.

Thursday, Dec 15:
Boq'ta wins at Dabo!! Free drinks for all!! Holosuites for everyone!! Off to buy some bling-bling, it's gotta be Bluesy in the sky with diamonds!! Yeah, baby!

Friday, Dec 16:
Had to take a day off. Hangover. Have to make up for it by going on a mission to abandoned sister station next week. Boooring!

Saturday, Dec 17:
Cpt. Sisko told me how happy he is that he finally has another crewman who knows how to fly a complex ship like the Defiant. Apparently, the smallfolk (ensigns, lieutenants, crewmen who don't have my superior qualifications...) here aboard the station are only comfortable with their toy ship runabouts, but they just keep scratching their heads when someone tells them to fly anything that has a proper captain's chair. Muppets, all of them.

Monday, Dec 19:
Went past the promenade school this morning. What a melting pot, swear I didn't see two guys of the same species. They were missing a Bolian. Guess I'll take some lessons tomorrow just for laughs.

Tuesday, Dec 20:
Blue Alert, everyone, Boq'ta is off to an away mission. Boldly going to explore... a floating old piece of metal drifting through the galaxy. With Stolzoff, Pechetti, Chief O and some other characters. Yeah, it's gonna be sooo exciting... not. Told the Ferengi kid he's the designated redshirt for this mission, and there's no chance he's coming back. Guy freaked out, but hey, anything to spice up this assignment a bit. Should be back at the Dabo wheel by tomorrow night.
