Trek Masters at the Grand Prix in Celle

by Thomas Schneider, European OP Coordinator

20th June 2014

For most Germans, Celle is just a small town in northern Germany. But for Trek players, Celle is the home of one of the oldest Trek events. It was there, where a one person team competed in a Multiplayer Team Tournament (by playing two decks and walking around the tables for more than 4 hours...). Or where "Midnight Draft" meant starting to draft at midnight, playing till dawn. No format was ever too weird to be played in Celle, be it "All your cards have to show a female", "When your personnel is stopped, your opponent gains command of them", or something as "normal" as Orbital Shift or Race to the Alpha Quadrant. And although the Grand Prix itself was one of the biggest and most challenging events in Germany, it was always a very relaxed, enjoyable, and fun weekend for everybody!

For various reasons the Grand Prix did not take place during the last years, but this is going to change this autumn, when we return to Celle  for the Grand Prix 2014 and the inaugural German Trek Masters. Here is the preliminary schedule:

Friday, 3rd of October, around noon: Warm-up tournaments
Saturday, 4th of October, 11:00: Second Edition Trek Masters
Sunday, 5th of October, 11:00: First Edition Trek Masters

Details about Friday's schedule and side events will be announced once they are finalized. All tournaments will take place at the:

Intercity Hotel Celle
Nordwall 22
29221 Celle
Phone: +49 5141 200-0

Rooms can be booked directly at the hotel for 125€ per night (double room, including breakfast) by quoting the booking code "trekcc". The room block is available until the 18th of September.

Some notes for traveling players: The closest airport is Hannover. A train ride from the airport to Celle takes between 30 and 45 minutes. Please keep in mind that the 3rd of October is a bank holiday in Germany, and thus the majority of shops (except gas stations and those located at airports and train stations) will be closed.
