The Search for the Next Board Members Begins

Today the Continuing Committee would like to invite members of this community to apply to be a member of the Board of Directors. There currently are two positions open on the Board - Director of First Edition and Director of Operations. Both of these positions require project management and leadership skills. Board members are the leaders of the Continuing Committee.  We work to make this organization run as smoothly as possible. As a Board member, you will be expected to communicate quickly with your staff members, regularly monitor the message boards in order to respond to needs in your area and be present at monthly Board meetings.


The Director of First Edition oversees the Department of First Edition, including Design teams, the Rules Committee, the Creative Team and Errata Team.  They shall guide First Edition expansions through their workflow cycles, ensuring that deadlines are being met and that the resources required for an expansion's release are available at the right times. However, the primary work of the Director of First Edition will be in managing information about the expansion leading to its release: developing spoiler schedules, coordinating with the Department of Communications to advertise the expansion, etc.  They will oversee the department staffing, filling vacancies as needed, and serve as arbiter for all internal disputes.

The Director of Operations will ensure that the Shipping, Programming, Achievements, and Art Departments are running smoothly and on time without any delays. The Director will be the chairman of the Operations Committee which will include the following: Chief Programmer, Achievement Master, Shipping Manager, and the Art Director. The Director of Operations will act as the liaison between Operations and the other departments within the Corporation ensuring accurate communication and deadlines that are to be met without incident.  They will oversee the department staffing, filling vacancies as needed, and serve as arbiter for all internal disputes.

I am chairing both search committees and have recruited four additional volunteers for each of them. I really appreciate the willingness of these folks to serve.  The timeline for the search will go as follows:


April 1st to the 15th - members of the community are encouraged to apply for either Board position

April 15th to the 18th - the search committees will review applications and choose candidates to interview

April 19th to the 26th - search committees will interview candidates and forward the names of the  top candidates to the Board of Directors

April 28th - the Board will vote to accept or reject the candidates
