Tjark Ott is your new Second Edition Errata Team Leader

by Ross Fertel, Director of Second Edition

3rd December 2019

The Department of Second Edition is proud to announce Tjark "Tjark" Ott as the new Second Edition Errata Team Leader.

A selection committee of three people was formed. That group included someone who is a high level player, two designers, one Rules Team member and one player who is from First Edition who has minimal understanding and experience with Second Edition.

On October 8, the article for the position went live. There were a total of three applicants from two continents. Interviews were conducted over the course of late October/Early November. Questions run the gamut from basic questions about the game (What’s the best turn you’ve ever had?) to errata specific (When is errata necessary?) to leadership (How would you manage a disagreement in your team?) and my favorite question ([REDACTED]).

After conducting interviews, the Search Committee has selected Tjark as the Second Edition Errata Team Leader. All candidates were impressive, but Tjark was more focused on keeping the intention of the card intact as much as possible. He will fix what needs to be fixed, but will maintain as much integrity of the card as possible and not design through errata. The Search Committee were also impressed with his leadership and teamwork. Here is what TJ had to say on his appointment:

As we discussed online, I am very pleased to accept the position of 2E Errata Team Leader. The goals you outlined for the position are well-matched to my abilities, and I consider it a privilege to join your team. I am eager to make a positive contribution to the community and to work with everyone.

I would like thank all the applicants for their interest as well as their participation in the interviews. Though we ended up selecting Tjark, the other candidates put forth a good demonstration of why they would be a fit for the position. I would also like to thank the selection committee for their work with the selection and interviews. Join me in welcoming Tjark Ott as Second Edition Errata Team Leader.

His position is effective immediately.  I would like to thank Josh Sheets for his work leading the Errata Team for Second Edition.  He is leaving a good group for Tjark to work with.
