Hidden Agendas

The two new dilemmas in Heroes and Demons has really got my creative juices flowing in terms of building a variety of interaction decks. I feel it will be especially effective to pair Piratical Boarders with personnel who return themselves to hand to do something nasty. This dilemma, along with a couple of other cards from the set, has got me looking at Cardassian capture decks for the first time in quite awhile. I have built a deck to show off some of these new cards.
- I already mentioned Piratical Boarders and returning personnel. Cardies have access to Ilon Tandro, Special Envoy now, who can get you a captive in the early game. Most players attempt their space mission first these days, so he's a good choice. My choice of other personnel to send over is Toran, Ambitious Brute. Strictly speaking, these two personnel are better with One More Brush Fire, since they both have Diplomacy, but if I set up a wall, such as Outclassed behind the Boarders, I'll be able to execute both Orders on my turn.
- If I'm worried that my opponents might rescue their captives, I can make them pay a bit more for that with Obstructive Posturing. A little light milling never really hurt anyone, right?
- Although he doesn't strictly fit into the capture theme, Macet, Reluctant Warrior (AKA "Muttonchops") is here to download Stunning Reversal. I picked that card for its draw function, so I could get to my capture cards earlier, but with affiliations such as the Ferengi getting into the business of starting and losing engagements, you may find yourself using this card for its other function.
- Earlier, you all got to see the new Betazed, Seize Asset. I really like how this mission helps you build up your captives while furthering your ability to win the game. It will also go nicely in a Tain deck, so watch out there! The benefit of this mission, solving it to get a captive, does tempt me away from my usual mission modus operandi, which is to attempt space first. l admit I'm not sure if encountering an early-game Necessary Execution is a deterrent. I guess I'll have to try it out to see.
- This brings us to one of today's new cards, McCallister C-5 Nebula, Marshal Invasion Fleet. It has some big disadvantages (oh, that Span!), but it can also help you thwart your opponent by milling their deck a bit. You have to have a large crew to do this, so it's likely you'll only pull this off once per turn. I'm curious to see how this mission will work out with Alternatives to Fighting. If my opponent moves here, will they be able to get back? Can I put Piratical Boarders before it to possibly ensure I'll get to set off Tandro and Toran later?
So, what are you planning to try out with these new cards? Why not show off your new tech in my online release event? You know you can't resist a shameless plug.
