Star Trek: Lower Decks Season four is upon us! Things planned include a
Voyager
centric premiere, a visit to
post-DS9 Ferenginar
and a first visit overall to
Orion
!

Let's do a draft! You'll pick two (and only two) characters form the list below and if they meet predetermined criteria, you get a point. The highest total in the end wins.

Mariner
Boimler
Tendi
Rutherford
Freeman
Ransom
Shaxs
T'Ana

No Duplication! Once a combination is picked, it is off the board.

Hurry, hurry, hurry! Your entry must be in no later than September 7, or when the season starts, whichever comes first.

Tiebreaker! In the unlikely but possible event of a tie score, the first person to get their entry in will get the win!

We are off Twovix the races with a fun Voyager tribute (following last season's Deep Sapce Nine tribute) and then we visit a Menagerie. There are some long running arc continuing that are not stopped by promotions and T'Pyn is integrated well into the cast, making fast friends with Tendi. The two are a good pair and we'll see if Boimler and Rutherford go all Felix and Oscar. Rutherford had a fun subplot in the second episode as well. Really looking the attitude the crew took about the ultimate fate of Tuvix, though the ending was a bit forcing of the hand. Add in a season spanning danger and we are starting off strong.

Also, that was the ship I thought it was that joined the intro Borg battle, right?

Looking at the draft, for the first episode, Everyone but Ransom gets Away Team points with Freeman, Shaxs and T'Ana doing something physically impossible. Tendi and Boimler were outside their sated field and Boimler used a phaser. For the second, Boimler, Freeman, Shaxs and T'Ana got Away Team points while Mariner and T'Ana went outside their sated field.

We have some leaders but there is eighty percent of the season to go.

In the Cradle of Vexilon is a fun twist on the Evil Computer giving Boimler his first command which goes about as well as you can expect. It was fun to see what Boimler brings to the main cast via subtraction. I wasn't happy with the final tag on the rest, but like dhow they worked together, particularly Rutherford breezing through Chula. Freeman had a pretty epic fuckup though called on help when she needed it. Huge mistake for a captain who had proven herself capable otherwise.

Looking at the draft, Tendi scanned her way out of her stated field and Freeman's poor engineering skills were on display as well. Shaxs got away team points and Rutherford used a phaser, in a manner of speaking. But those all fail in comparison to Boimler who was on the away team, worked outside his stated field and not only died but came back in the same episode! I don't want to say if you don't have Boimler you might be out of the running, but the scores are below.

On one hand, the less said about the Odd Couple plot, the better. On the other, we had another strong visit to the homeworld of a main character. Tendi is the only eon of the Big Four that we haven't had a focus on and this was fabulous, confirming and expanding a lot mon what we already knew. Plus, great Girls Day out with Mariner and T'Lyn who seems to be kind of there thus far. For a fan favorite brought in specifically for her popularity, they are underusing her.

As far as the draft, no one went on an away team, so points for the bridge crew. Also, Mariner got stabbed in the shoulder thrice and suffered no injuries, something not physically possible. Points are as follows:

Faithful Reader 8
Jadziadax8 5
