Lursa Passes

May the halls of Sto-vo-kor roar with your evil laughter and smile Barbara!

Bummer.

Barbara March was one of the few Trek Celebs I had the pleasure of meeting in person. I got her Autograph on a Reflections Lursa at Motor City Comic Con 2003. I still have that card in my rare card binder along a Gwenyth Walsh-autographed B'Etor Foil.

Cancer took another one today. The silver lining at least she got to live a somewhat long life.

The sad truth is if you live long enough cancer will kill you.

Not always! My grandfather lived to be 91 and in the last few years of his life he got hit with multiple things including leukemia.

His doctors told him that it wasn't worth bothering with treatment because the leukemia was like number 5 or 6 on the list of things that were likely to kill him.

They were right. He didn't die of leukemia.

Or are you saying that that just means he didn't live "long enough"?

Out of curiosity, what did get him?

I can't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure that if you live long enough, it's likely to be some form of accident that kills you. Anyone else heard that?

I've heard it phrased as "cancer is what kills you if you don't die of something else first". I think the theory is that since over a long enough period everyone statistically will get cancer (because it's just your cells losing the plot)?

I'm not a rocket surgeon, though - I'm probably mis-remembering the underlying logic.

Regardless, cancer sucks.
