Star Trek: Lower Decks is quickly approaching season three. This series is an adult animated series, the second of three non-live series and the only one specifically made as a comedy to date. As the title implies, this series focuses on those that are lower on the totem pole than the bridge crew, who are usually he focus of other series.

As previously, we will do a draft. Simply choose two characters and you will get points base don what they do (or do not do) base don predetermined criteria. Whomever has the most points when the series ends wins.

There are a few rules

Your pair must be original. You are not allowed to copy someone else's choice entirely. If someone picks Boimler and Ransom, you may pick Ransom and Freeman or Freeman and Boimler for example.

Your entry must be posted here in by Saturday, August 20. Any entries submitted after that date will not be eligible. You must post your entry in reply to this thread.

A bonus point is available! New this draft is the opportunity to earn a singular bonus point. If you select someone from the bridge crew along with someone from the 'lower decks,' you will get a bonus point. It might seem small but these drafts can get close.

We will break ties with an earlier entry. In the event that there is a tie, whomever put in their entry first will claim total victory!

As a reminder, the lower decks consists of:
Beckett mariner
Brad Boimler
D'Vana Tendi
Sam Rutherford

The bridge crew consists of:
Carol Freeman
Jack Ransom
Shaxs
T'Ana

If there are questions, let me know but otherwise, have fun!

Points are not awarded for hookups so yes, I'll double the zero points.

Freeman got out in the most Lower Decks way Possible. The season opener focused on the 'rescue,' which ties into the poster for once.

While everyone got time on screen, this was a Mariner yarn. We got more of her dad and more Phil Lamarr is always welcome. Plus, Freeman put Mariner under Ransom's watch. They have bene together a times, most notably in Veritas, but this will give Ransom more to do which is good in a show that struggles to find something for him to do.

Dr. T'ana had dialogue but did Shaxs?

Looking at the draft, we are off to a strong start with everyone on the board. The bridge crew were not on aa away mission and the lower decks were. Tendi demonstrated anthropology and Rutherford knew navigation rewiring outside both their stated fields. Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi all sued phasers and Boimler leaned into a shot.

Point values are below and they are adjusted with the bonus point.

After a season premiere to get us back on track, we have a second episode to show us more of the same. Boimler tried saying yes and got a spear in his shoulder for it. Kind of think that should have gotten a little more alarm support or alarm as that would hurt like hell, but he made a few friends out of it. He continues to hold himself back but makes some forward progress.

We got more of what we would expect to see with Mariner and Ransom this season. Ransom made a huge mistake with having the engineering crew go on a diplomatic mission when they could have solved the problem with the tether is less time, something Mariner pointed out. She pulled the wool over Ransom's eyes for now, but that probably would not last for the season. It is a good arc to see though mariner will probably self sabotage at some point.

Looking at the draft, Mariner got points for being on an away team while Freeman, Shaxs and T'Ana got them for not. With Ransom being so prominent is Mariner's tory this season, having him might not be good for your scores while having her might be beneficial, but the season is till young. Rutherford, Mariner and Ransom got points for going outside their skill set. Updates are below.

The main plot was pretty standard Trek, to the point where the teaser set everything up perfectly. We learned more about the inner desires of our crew, including that Mariner and Jen are still together.

This being Lower Decks, it could not pass without Mariner messing things up. That they found a big secret in the end does not change that.

Tendi seems to be acclimating well to her training. If she becomes a senior science officer, will she leave the lower decks?

Points to everyone but Tendi for Away Team related stuff and also to Mariner and Rutherford for using phasers. bad week for Tendi.

Leaderboard is below.

Not especially thrilled with the shipboard plot. If I see a crew bickering, I prefer it to be with another government's crew, not their own, definitely not on their won ship., How much is Starfleet scraping the bottom of the barrel in the wake of the Dominion War?

Thankfully, the engineer plot is better constructed, pun intended. Some people, particularly, engineers, relax by working and the two best candidates we have for that are Scotty and O'Brien. Freeman forcing them to relax seems like going backwards. Of course, they did engineer a solution in the end.

This was not a great week for the draft with Rutherford, Ransom, Shaxs and T'ana getting Away team points, calling the therapy vessel an away team mission. Points are below with more expected to enter the two digit club soon:

A Sterfleet recruitment booth? With Boimler and Mariner? Don't they have some more experienced crew to talk about how awesome Starfleet is? Also, putting Boimler in the brig was a tad overkill. What rule did he break?

We learned more about Rutherford who was kind of a jerk before his new equipment was installed, and conveniently has an optic color mode so we know he's evil. He battles with himself and comes out on top de to the power of friends. As much as we learned there is still more to go but it is a fun mystery to follow.

With the draft, Rutherford and Tendi both worked outside their skill sets while Boimelr and Mariner got away team points as did Freeman, Shaxs and T'Ana. Which means everyone but Ransom got a point and the scores are as follows:

The Next Generation and Voyager both had Deep Space Nine crossovers and while Picard might in season three, Lower Decks got a go around this time.

Man, a Quark Saru scene. Shimmerman and Jones would kill ti and it pretty much writes itself!

There were lots of references, both humorous and not. Quarks was a standout with Boimler being good at gambling and having the last laugh with not being able to use funds. Shaxs and Kira have a history because fo TV, but that led to a great series of exchanges where they one up each other and Kira discountign a rescue because he was captive as wll.

Tendi and Rutherford ended up saving the day and Tendi has to get the MVP award, singlehandedly kicking ass and taking the ship. best of all, we have an Orion raised on Earth, like a certain Klingon we know.

Mariner gets to meet Jen's friends and true to form they do not get along, though Mariner does a good job at taking charge when the situation calls for it.

With the draft, Tendi and Rutherford were on a mission while T'Ana was not. Tendi, Rutherford and Boimler leaned into a shot early on and Mariner used a phaser. leaderboard is below. While everyone is in the Two Digit Club, someone is pulling away as we are in the second half of the season.
