Can you believe there hasn't been an Infinite Diversity draft anywhere since November 2019, and not online since 2017? We need to fix that ASAP.

We'll be holding an Infinite Diversity Remastered draft online starting Monday, September 14th. All the details are below (some of this copied from the last draft thread, and paraphrased/updated).

Players must be pre-registered by September 14th. Pre-registered players must also PM me their email address for pack drafting. The first packs will be emailed out on the night of the 14th. First round pairings will be announced when ALL cards have been drafted, and will then progress at a normal one-round-per-week pace. The number of rounds will depend on how many players are registered.

I will not be participating in this event as I am generating the draft packs.

I believe this event will count as a Subspace Series event, but Kris Sonsteby will have more information on that.

Draft rules:

Each player will first receive an Infinite Diversity set with all 21 cards it contains, and 4 Headquarters. These cards are fixed and are not drafted. (This means you can choose what Headquarters to use after drafting your other cards.)

Next, each player will receive (and draft) a mission pack with nine missions. Pick one mission, pass the rest, etc., until the pack is fully drafted.

Next, each player will receive 6 additional packs of 9 cards each, in two groupings of 3 packs each. The first group of 3 will be drafted together (pick 1 card from each pack, then pass all 3, etc.), then the second group will be sent and drafted.

A random table order will be generated and each player will pass their missions to the right, then the first 3 packs to the left, then the second 3 packs back to the right.

The packs are generated by the TrekCC Virtual Pack Creator, but will be sent as text files that can be opened in WordPad (and in Lackey). To open the packs, simply do so in WordPad. Next, choose the card that you want from the pack, remove it (Ctrl + X) and paste it into your card pool (your initial draft kit, Ctrl + V). Save both files and send the packs (minus one card each) along to the next person in the list.

Depending on number of players, there may be multiple pods (for drafting; everyone's in one group once we're playing). What set of headquarters will we see in each pod? That's partially up to you. A poll is attached with some options; please select your favorite, though I place no guarantees as to what pod you'll end up in or which headquarters you'll see.

As a refresher, here are the Infinite Diversity Rules:

Deck Limits
Deck Size: Minimum 25 Maximum NONE
Dilemma Pile: Minimum 10 Maximum NONE
Missions: Exactly 5

The “rule of three” is suspended while players are constructing their draft decks. This
means you can include as many copies of any card you draft!

No Quadrants
All quadrant rules are suspended; every mission is considered to be in every quadrant.
(You do not need to add 2 to the Range required to move between missions.)

Reinforcement
If you have a headquarters mission, you may play any personnel and/or ships that
couldn’t normally report to that headquarters at cost +1.

First Turn Download
During the Play and Draw Cards segment of your first turn (and only your first turn),
you may spend 3 counters to download a ship.

Discard Pile Recycling
The first time each game your deck is empty, you may immediately shuffle your
discard pile into a new deck.

Victory Conditions
A player wins the game when he or she has:
scored 70 points (or more);
completed at least one planet mission; and
completed at least one space mission.

Can't wait.

This for sure counts as part of the Subspace Championship Series, and I challenge everyone reading this to jump in to some hot sealed action in just a few short weeks. As to the packs, I think it would be cool (as a participant) if we were drafting from the Dominion War or one of the other "newer" card pools since all the sealed events lately have been the original starters. But that is just my thought as a guy who loves sealed deck, not an official response. :twocents:

If the drafting was done over Lackey I'd do it, but I just really don't want to deal with emailing txts back and forth like that again. Sorry guys.

Best of luck to those who participate! :cheersL:

Tournament now has fancy bold Subspace Series letters!

It's the most important event I've run since... the last one!

Based on voting results, I'll use For the Cause packs, which is fine, as it's the one I've least often generated.

In the unlikely event we need two pods, I'll have a different set for the second pod.

Still a few days to get signed up.

Four pre-registered means this event is a go. Sign up before Monday @ 10 pm Eastern to make sure you get in on the draft.

Those of you that have signed up, please send me a current email address that you want to use for the draft.

Still got about 24 hours left to sign up for this event. I'll start generating cardpools tonight, but will finish up tomorrow night.

If you try to register after midnight tonight and the system won't let you (because the tournament has "started"), just PM me and I'll add you manually.

All right, we are go, and just about ready. Cardpools are ready to go out, but I'm still missing one email address, so stand by.

EDIT: Just got it, so cardpools will go out tonight!

Everyone should now have their base cardpool and their mission pack.

It is sealed deck, so you should be able to. But I think in this case, Jules should have to take a shot prior to his next scheduled match for every card he changes. :shifty:

Yes, you may change your deck between rounds, but only using the cards you've drafted.

I can't speak for the rest of you, but I had some tough choices on those first two mission selections. There are a handful of really interesting options, and several straight up solid missions to choose from. :twocents:
