This is it! The final constructed and penultimate event of the 2020 Return to Talos IV series!

Back in January we started at the beginning with PAQ-era PURE... about as 1996 as you can get. For this final constructed event, we're coming full circle and linking the past with the present.

In 2012, the TNG Block was launched with The Next Generation and The Next Generation: Supplemental expansion sets looking to recapture the basic gameplay of the early 1e days with some new and improved cards. It was a 1e Renaissance era that brought many retired players - myself included - back into a game they hadn't picked up since the dark days of the late Decipher era. By making the gameplay mechanically simpler, but adding cards to enrich the experience, this block era was almost a new golden age of its own.

I saw almost, because I had two quibbles with the TNG Block: It omitted some basic staple cards from the PAQ era that weren't included in TNG:S, and it omitted Shades of Gray, another set that was Designed to enhance PAQ-era cards.

Well, now that New Golden Age is finally here... at least for a month!

This event will combine the best of TNG Block with the Best of the rest of PAQ-era and modern cards. The following sets are legal:

Old School
Premiere
Alternate Universe
Q-Continuum
2-Player Game

New School
The Next Generation
The Next Generation: Supplemental
Engage
The Sky's The Limit
Bah!
Shades of Gray
Coming of Age

In addition, OTF rules are in effect.

Hopefully this event looks as fun to you as it does to me and makes you want to sign up to play on the merits, but if you need additional incentive, I have some...

-All RTT4 events, including this one, are part of the 2020 Subspace Series and as such, playing makes you eligible for special promo foils!

-If that's still not enough, as part of the RTT4 series itself, playing earns you participation points toward a special exclusive Investigate Quarantine promo foil. You need 10 points to qualify, and while you get some points for placing in the top 3, you get MORE points by playing in RTT4 series events. At last look (which doesn't include the current Voyager Warp Speed event), there were 2 players eligible to qualify for the foil if they just played in one more event, and 4 others who could qualify by playing in one more event and finishing in a top spot (1 or 2)... plus the Warp Speed event is ongoing and that's going to move some people closer to the goal as well... it's not too late to get in on the action!

This event kicks off Friday, November 6th, 2020. If we get more than 8 players, I'll add a 4th round.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the arena! :cheersL:

I've gotten a couple of questions about this, so I'm posting here for everyone's awareness....

Repurposed Outpost does not allow aligned cards to report under normal outpost reporting rules. However, it DOES NOT preclude other cards from targeting it for purposes of reporting aligned cards.

For example, you can download aligned personnel to RPO with Assign Mission Specialists. You can also report applicable personnel to a RPO at Host Metaphasic Shielding Test with Scientific Diplomacy.

I just wanted to get that out here so if it comes up during a game, the question is easily answerable.

I also may or may not be planning on abusing this in some form or fashion with my own deck.... :shifty:

Also worth noting that it's pretty important to have a NA or Neutral Outpost at Host Metaphasic Shielding Test because Scientific Diplomacy does not extend its "mix and cooperate" to facilities (thanks to Continuing Mission not granting TNG icons to facilities).

2 Days until kickoff and we're currently sitting on ELEVEN people, which means we'll be playing FOUR rounds.

However, as good as 11 is, 12 is better... any last minute challengers want to jump in and help us avoid the dreaded BYE?

It's not too late! Get registered today!!
