Hello,

I'm hosting a First Edition tournament that will kick off on Friday, June 4th. This will be the second tournament in our series testing the TNG-Only card pool format, which we hope will become a staple of play for those seeking smaller formats as we move forward. The tournament will be four (4) rounds (unless participation dictates more) and will be constructed using the OTF rules. The only limitations are on the card pool, as follows:
  • All missions are legal (as they do not have property logos).
  • Cards with the Star Trek: The Next Generation property logo are allowed.
  • Cards with the Star Trek: Generations property logo are allowed.
  • No other property logos are allowed.
And please remember, if a card has any printing that has one of the above property logos, it is legal in this format. You can use a Voyager branded copy of Male's Love Interest, because a TNG branded version exists.

I'm posting this tournament early to make sure you have plenty of time to create decks and ask questions. I am reserving the right to make slight changes to this card pool up until Friday, May 14th, but I am unlikely to do so without good cause.

Everyone who participates will be entered into a drawing for prizes (to be determined). I'll provide additional entries for anyone that links their deck list after the event, provides a tournament report, and fills out a post-game survey. I'll do my best to hook you guys up!

I look forward to working with you to test out this format in this event. I'm hopeful we can dial in the card pool and get this launched after we've had a look at these results.

Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Please note that this year's event, unlike last year's, includes the Star Trek: Generations property logo cards. It's not a lot of cards, but it should provide some new options and some help for a few decks.

Also, I've created a thread on the Deck Designs (1E) forum to discuss deck building problems, questions, and answers as we go. I encourage you to participate as your comfort level allows.

There's enough to get the creative juices flowing on a couple of different deck designs.

It's unsanctioned.
No special rules or requirements? Within the card pool (which is clear!) one can steal, scrounge, beg, hijack or build any deck? (I.e., no specific things that TPB want to [not] test.) OK, thx!

(Very tentatively pre-reg'd.)

Nope. Other than the card pool restrictions and the fact this is unrated, it's a normal tournament. We're testing the card pool, so be creative and have fun.

I supposed that depends on the achievement, but many say "Play in a sanctioned...." hence the other discussion.

The only achievement will be Charlie's Gratitude: play in a public playtesting event that Charlie is hosting and get really cool prizes and help shape the future of the game.
