Hello everyone!

It's time to kick off our 30th Anniversary tournament series we're calling Voyage to Talos IV. Over the next 10 months, we'll be hosting a series of tournaments designed to celebrate the past, present, and future of First Edition. The more Return to Talos IV tournaments you play in, the more prizes you can win! And of course, you get to play Star Trek which is always a win.

Our 1st tournament is going to be Traditional Open Constructed using just the recently released Premiere Traditional. This event will double as a release event for Premiere Traditional to celebrate this historical and first-of-its-kind expansion. The tournament will feature decks you build using just the 363 cards in Premiere Traditional with all the chaos and fun of old school First Edition

Click here to see the tournament details and register.

Here's the planned schedule:
Monday 1/13/25: Announce Round 1 Pairings
Monday 1/20/25: Announce Round 2 Pairings
Monday 1/27/25: Announce Round 3 Pairings
Monday 2/3/25: Final Results
I will happily work with all potential players if extensions are required, as long as you are upfront and honest about scheduling issues.

I will acquire a Series U Tournament Kit, featuring cards legal in both Traditional and Modern play, to use as prizes for the event. Please note these promos should be available sometime after February, so there will be delay between the event and the distribution of the prizes.

Let's celebrate the 30th anniversary together with this Traditional Open Constructed event. Do you remember what your decks looked like from 30 years ago? Come put one together and play!

i don't think i've ever built a legit deck using premier only. when premier released i only had a starter and a few boosters i got as a gift that we played with. later on i got some au and qc. so by the time i actually had enough cards to make decent decks, i was already way past premier. so this should be interesting.........

To be clear these are open rules, not modern or traditional, correct?

and as such all the "blue box" open rules (vs modern) in the rulebook apply to this tournament, correct?

Yup, it's fully Open. Mission stealing is in, batch seeding is out, chaos and craziness abound.

If I can figure out anything worth playing in the next week, I'll sign up but since you have 4 now, I am not as worried about it happening.

but (and this is just for full clarity) - this is using current open rules, and not the original premere rules, right?

So 6 missions that don't count for your seed limit, and you can have more then 60 cards total?

(Meaning most decks will probably have 28-29 dilemmas, which will be interesting.)

the open rules are in the rulebook. look for the blue bubbles on the right side which shows the differences between modern and open.

some highlights:

there is no batch seeding. you each seed 1 card at a time, under any mission you want. (so you can "outseed" your opponent by putting a card under your own mission so you encounter it first instead of last).

There is no limit on how many copies of a dilemma you can seed. (Modern you can only have 2 copies of any one dilemma). but you can only seed 1 copy under any particular mission.

100 points wins. doesn't matter how you get there. you can score 100 bonus points and complete zero missions if you want.

mission stealing it totally legal, for ANY mission. doesn't matter how many points it shows. so prepare to defend your own missions with dilemmas.

Only Raise the Stakes is banned. Everything else is legal.

I think that's it....... (there's no personnel download limit either but that's not going to matter for this tournament since there aren't any premier cards that download).

Not true. You could see as many as you want under a mission, it's just any other copy than the first revealed is overcome. (Boratus' original printing might matter in this case).

Well, Betazoid Gift Box is about the only real "download" card in Premiere, but it doesn't say download since the term didn't exist until First Contact.

I won 100-35 against @TyKajada
