So I babble about "Power Rankings" from time to time. These aren't just the imaginary rankings in my head, but a running thread on the designs boards. Started it back in April of last year. I'm going to import them here and make them public.

Here was my original concept:

This is my arbitrary rankings, based on overall strength. Kinda like Hurt n' Heal, each designer, if they want, can move up/down one affiliation/faction. Limit it to once a week at most. At least try to, after each big event, take a look at decklist and see where it stands.

It still works like Hurt n' Heal. If you participate, please keep the 'once a week' limit.

The original list last year was mine, then its evolved a little since then.

Who the fuck needs data? I said when I started this that this might be one of my clunker ideas, and it looks like it's the case.

All I'm trying to do here is cultivate a collective opinion of the state of the game. I also wanted the designers to pay attention to the game.

Maybe it's dumb, but if Charlie (or somebody else) posted it people would be waving pom-poms.

That's a good question.... This was conceived before HoF took over the East. And we'll see how it effects TCM.

I look at it on an overall basis. Maybe as HoF grows it would need a split (like the Coaches and AP poll in college football).

Ignoring the obvious arbitrariness which you've already pointed out my problem with this is that a straight 1-18 list is not indicative of the actual gaps between affiliations.

That's bullshit, an easy example is the online trek community you shit on all the time.

I rate both of them in the bottom third at best.

What the masses play isn't that big of a deal to me. I go by what wins and what I see in my travels.

If you don't play alot then maybe trends matter more. Everybody has their perspective.
