The P stood for PROMO which were usually given out (or intended to be given out) as promos for retail incentives, mail in offers, special boutique-style sets, etc.

The D stood for DGMA, Decipher's organized play system. These were intended as prizes for playing in or sometimes placing in tournaments.

At first, I was thinking something to that affect, but then I saw tournament listed for both on some cards, and then I was not sure. Just wanted to understand.

I appreciate the reply.

IIRC, Decipher started DGMA sometime after the 2E promos started going out, which may be why some of the P cards go with tournaments. I honestly don't remember, though.
