For the uninitiated (e.g. me), what's a "Best of Both Worlds" tournament?

This was a format that Julius ran in Vienna last year. The gist of it is that you bring both a 1E and a 2E deck for the tournament. You get paired for a round, and then play a game of 1E and a game of 2E with that opponent in a 2.5 hour time block.

You bring a 1e deck and a 2e deck and play each opponent in a game of 1e followed by a game of 2e.

Needless to say, it's an all day affair.

Jules randomized the order of 1E and 2E each round. I heard some of the 1E guys were planning to build 1E stall/lockout decks so they wouldn't have to play 2E at all.

Seriously?

That's not cool. If you don't want to play in both games, don't play in this event.

Holy cow! The Best of Both Worlds event sounds like a tournament of STAMINA more than skill, LOL!

I'd like to try it some day, though, so I voted for it. This by no means is an indication that I'll definitely be at worlds, though. It happens so soon after GenCon that would be tough.

Travel to the Midwest for Gencon, stay for Worlds.

Flights in and out of Chicago are much cheaper than those to Indy. The MegaBus goes to Indy for $50.

A spot in the Basement of Doom only costs you a shot of Malort.

Well crap... where am I gonna put my kids?

I'm pretty sure giving your kid a shot of Malort is considered child abuse... no matter how old they are! :P

They can have some of Sprout's Favorite Drink (tonic water, grenadine, lemon juice and sprinkle of bitters).

You're welcome. I enjoy the format and look forward to seeing the new class so I can build my deck for Manassters 3.
