Magic: The Gathering is the undisputed leader of the CCG industry. They divide things up into five colors. They can (and often do) intermingle but often come back to those five at the end of the day.

We'll look at them this week in terms of what they looks like in Second Edition. For today, we'll look at White. Look at the poll below and tell us what is White in Second Edition. More than likely there are a few different and equally viable responses but which most resembles White? let us know and we'll keep this open for at least a week and allow revoting. Be sure to tell us why as well.

If you aren't familiar with Magic the Gathering (or drink that Kool-Aid as our Executive Director points out) here is a quick primer for reference.

Deep Space Nine seems about right here. Protection and the potential for a little darkness are all part of that faction.

.

So Bajoran, all the religious themes...
If you want to add a second color, I'd go for black (Orzhov), discard pile retrieval.

One again looking from the color pie philosophy instead of mechanics: Borg, followed by TNG feds, Dominion, and the rest of the feds.

The core of white can be summed up with one line - The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. White is about community and order. The Borg are the ultimate community in Star Trek, with the good of the hive or the collective the ultimate goal.

Mechanically this plays out as well, with the Borg have lots of small drones that unite to be a bigger threat, lots of abilites to enhance the entire group at once, share skills, etc.

And even the most aggressive battle cards are usually with a goal of "come join us, be as one."
