Looking over Worlds decks, I was struck but how little affiliation variance there is amongst Starfleet mains. Most other affiliations have spread the love through affiliations, but apart for a couple non-aligned cards here and there, Starfleet is pretty much Deep Blue.

So this week, pitch me a Trip that is not Starfleet affiliated.

Remember, this is a pitch knot a design. I'm looking more for a sentence as opposed to actual gametext. Think along the lines of "A Ferengi affiliated card that helps with past Ferengi or Equipment" or "A Romulan affiliated card that helps Engineers" or somesuch.

This is just a fun exercise to do, we are not actively soliciting anything at this point.

What would be a good new affiliation for Trip to burst into, what are the broad points it should do and why?

Just a different shade of blue, but a [Fed] [TNG] Hologram of Tucker that serves to "inspire" a personnel present with his sacrifice sounds sensible.

Wouldn't that make more sense for Malcolm?

Offhand I can only think of two non- [SF] possibilities for Trip.

•a [Fed] [TNG] version, as mentioned by @Danny
•a [NA] version with a Vulcan-related ability

Both are a bit of a stretch, as the TNG one would more accurately have a different title (similar to the "revised" Voyager crew) and the Vulcan one should probably still be Starfleet (similar to how the corresponding 1E version is [Vul] [SF] dual affiliation).

This isn't Star Wars - the only stuff that's canon is the stuff that appears (or is referenced) on screen.

Well, Khan did take over the Enterprise, so this one gets a pass.

I should've specified "...canon in 2E is the stuff..."; 1E's a law unto itself

On a technicality, that's "on screen". :P

The VCR game is a self-evident case of Kavok appearing on screen...

Hm it's on screen but still not canon. Anyhoo, well then there's still no difference between using an image of Trip for a non-aligned Section 31 version of him from the novels and for a Fed TNG version of him that's a hologram that never appeared on-screen either :p

Heh, well you can't blame me for blocking that memory out. I was thinking that Will and Deanna were the holograms, not the other way around. I stand corrected!
