Players can earn a bye/head start that can be cashed in at any Continentals within the same year (or the following year if earned after Continentals has taken place) if they placed 1st or 2nd in any Nationals event, or if they won a Regionals event (or placed 2nd if the event had more than 10 players).

Players can earn a two-round bye (or double head start) at Worlds by winning a Continentals event in the same year. A second-place finisher earns a one-round bye or head start at Worlds.

The World Champion earns a two-round bye at the following year's World Championships and a one-round bye at the following year's Continentals. The Worlds runner-up receives a one-round bye at both events.

Players can also earn a bye or head start for both Continentals and Worlds in a given year if they have reached a pre-announced threshold of Masters points in the previous year. This bye overlaps with other earned byes and does not get handed down nor cause a hand down. (There have been limited Masters events in 2022 so it's unlikely this threshold will be reached.)

I will try to keep this list updated, checking roughly once a week for completed events that will add to this list.

Update. Jared Hoffman and Robin Honeycutt both receive 2023 Continentals byes after placing first and second at U.S. Nationals. Congrats!

This is now caught up through the end of the year, with apologies for falling behind.

Can someone please pin this thread and unpin the 2022 thread?

Updated! Post NACC edition. Used byes are removed (the remaining byes are still active for European Continentals). Worlds byes earned at NACC added. Also, regional results from 7/22 added. (If these are not used at ECC they will carry over to 2024.)

Updated through 9/9 events. I've removed cashed in byes at 1E European Continentals. 2E & Tribbles Continentals are now on schedule for October so the remaining bye list remains active until then. Byes with an asterisk will carry over to 2024 if not used this year.
