The 2024 MPGCO will be held in Fultondale Alabama on Friday, Saturday and Sunday March 1st, 2nd and 3d. We will be playing at the Comfort Suites 1325 Old Walker Chaple Road Fultondale,Al 35068. 205.259.2160 AL222@staychoice.com
If you want to book your room the total tax and all per night will be $135 (sorry for the higher rate, the tax in Fultondale is higher for some reason. I am looking into it!) and is under Continuing Committee. There is no other charge to play for any of the tournaments!
The format will be the same as last year in Valdosta: Friday- Pick One Save Two, dilemma draft( open to the first 10 who sign up!)
Saturday- standard format tourney early and Hall of Fame tourney later.
Sunday- Cardassian vs. Cardassian , everyone has to play with a Cardassian homeworld!
I hope you will make plans to join us in Fultondale as we honor our friend Marc and gather to sling some cardboard with friends! Qaplah! :cheersL:

We are a month out from the Marc Phillips Greater Cardassian Open!! I hope you are making plans to attend at least one if not all of the great events. A couple of newish things to consider:
1)The Friday event Pick One, Save Two dilemma draft is open to a max of 10 players because of number of decks available and the time it takes to draft. It looks to be full be I and my group will be pulling out to make room for people coming to play. Keep checking back and grab a spot if one is available. My group will be there so if you make it but cannot get in the draft, games and 2E fun can still be had!
2) There is a 1E tournament that will run Saturday evening at the same time as the HoF tournament if any 1E players wish to join us!
Also, the brand new HoF cards that get inducted this year will be in effect for our HoF tournament! Keep tabs on the voting so you do not have to do any last minute switching!!
3) The Cardassian vs. Cardassian tournament on Sunday has the requirement of having to use Hard Scrabble World as your only [H]!! It will also start at 9:00am so we can finish and get people on the road to food and home.
Come join us in Fultondale for a weekend of Trek !! :cheersL:

Michael I do not know exactly how to answer that. I honestly do not care if you were in both. My biggest concern is for each of your opponents and their game experience and their time. I know you and know you would do all in your power to make it work but you finishing a turn in one game while an opponent in another, different game sat for even a few seconds waiting on your return to their game seems like it would be discourtesy to them and the game they were in. The “legality” of your request is above my knowledge and pay grade. If no one from the CC “ruled” one way or another, I think I would put it to the players in attendance on Saturday. I love the enthusiasm but just am not sure.

Good day! We are about two weeks out from the 2024 Marc Phillips Greater Cardassian Open being held in lovely Fultondale, Alabama this year. If you are reserving a room at the Comfort Suites where we are playing please do so quickly! Booking rooms there is a little more pricey than I had wanted or expected but each room reserved helps with the cost of the meeting room where we will be playing. Even if you are just in for one night (Friday or Saturday) staying where we are playing really helps! If you have any questions or I can help please call! Thank you kindly! 205.542.2121

Hey, so, what's the story with 2e HoF and 1e Modern happening at the same time?

I see a bunch of players registered for both... are we trying some multi-game simultaneous nonsense?

Please make your reservations with our host hotel Comfort Suites of Fultondale 205.259.2160 or Al222@staychoice.com. The reservation is under Continuing Committee. Anyone who's playing in the Hall of Fame event, please know that the new list of retired cards WILL be in force!

So if you haven't voted yet, it's not too late! Just follow the instructions on The Ballot Thread and PM me your votes before the end of the Month.

I just wanted to give a whole bunch of shout outs after an unbelievably awesome event!

[SD]@durgforaday Mike G for putting together a hell of a quality operation. We're only halfway through the weekend but it's been nonstop fun (despite me going 0-fer in the Birmingham Draft and 2-2 in the main event). Amazing turnout, great gaming space, and unbelievable prize support... A+ effort to Mike and the Birmingham crew for all of the work they put in to make this thing happen! :cheersL:

[SD] @The Prefect Mike Shea for piling on the prize support - especially the play mat you gave my younger son. He was having a rough day after going 0-4 (especially after losing to his brother! :x ) and that perked him right up. Sincere thanks for that from a very appreciative dad. It was also great to finally meet you in person and hang out a bit. Here's hoping next time we get to actually play each other! :cheersL:

[SD] @Neelix Scott Baughman for going 4-0 and taking down Sykes, Corbett, and Van Breemen on the way to a 1st place finish. Well done! It was great to see you again and who knows, next time I may actually draw a Donatra or some events and maybe have a shot against your nonsense! :P :cheersL:

[SD] John Corbett @KillerB for splitting the room cost with me and giving me mostly good deck advice

[SD] Everyone who made the trip in from all over the Cardassia Region to make this thing happen!

- The Carolina Crew! Scott, @GooeyChewie Nathan, and the other guys I just met whose names are escaping me at the moment in my sleep-deprivred state.

-Shea and Greg Hodgin for making the drive over from Atlanta.

-Eric R for flying in from Orlando.

All of the hard work that went into putting this together would be for naught if nobody showed up to play. I love the dedication, and it makes me proud to be a member of maybe the single most active Trek Region in the world! :cheersL: :cheersL: :cheersL:

Now, back to action. Time to go lose at 1e or HoF! :P

Final update for the weekend:

Michael Van Breemen @The Ninja Scot outlasted Ryan Sutton @rsutton41 with a Mod Win in the final round to take the 1e Masters Event.

And after spending all weekend playing lots of bad Star Track Cardz and trying to build decks late at night, I borrowed MVB's deck for the All-Cardassian event today (he had his Masters deck that he could fall back on) and somehow managed to flip the script and roll to a 3-0 finish, including beating MVB heads up in Round 2 and getting revenge on newly-minted Masters Champ Scott @Neelix
in round 3.

That deck... man... Mad Props to the Mad Deck Scientist MVB for the concept... very deep strategy!

I'm not sure I would've found that Voltron-esque combination of personnel, missions, and tech, but I guess I'm still good enough to drive the sports car when somebody hands me the keys. Unreal!

So I'll take the Cardassian Champion title, the GLORY, and, of course, the Kanar! But I'll also give MVB a solid hat tip, mad respect, and a sincere thank you for helping me out - couldn't have done it without him.

Kanar-loaded cheers, my friend! :cheersL:

So, in Final Summary:

Birmingham Draft Winner: Eric Robinett
Trek 2e Masters Main Event Winner: Scott Baughman
Trek 1e Masters Winner: Michael Van Breemen
Hall of Fame Winner: John Corbett
Battle of Cardassia Winner: Brian Sykes

The second half was every bit as competitive as the first half, but it was all big fun. Mike G and the Birmingham crew run a first-rate operation! Great way to spend a nerd weekend!
