(2E is doing this and I thought it was a neat idea. Also, 1E has wayyyyy more factions.)

Rank the affiliations, based on overall strength. Kinda like Hurt n' Heal: each player can move one affiliation/faction one slot up or down.

You can make one move per day. [If that ends up being too much, I may adjust this later.]

You are free to assume each faction is supplemented by appropriate [NA] personnel. (Almost nobody runs a [Hir] deck without the Equinox, for instance.)

You are free to use this thread to demand I add any factions I missed.

Here's my initial list, which I just made up and which I'm sure is wrong in several important ways. Start fixing it! Wave your hurt-and-heal wand!

This is hard because there are so many options, people can play affiliations very differently, and it's hard to control for player skill. That said, I'll pull the trigger on this:
  1. [SF]
  2. Image (All-Property)
  3. [Vul]
  4. [1E-TNG] [Kli]
  5. [22] Image

  13. [1E-TNG] [Fed] (+1)
  14. [Dom] (-1)
  15. [1E-DS9] Image [Car]
  16. [OS] [TE]
  17. [1E-DS9] [Fed] [Baj]

This.

The best of players can take a "meh" affiliation and make a killer dominating deck. A meh player can take the best affiliation and screw up a deck ... I can assure you of this through first hand experience lol

Such a tough exercise. BUT ... great thread.

Agreed, I've handed my killer tournament winning decks to people only to watch them screw everything up. It's bizzare handing a two mission win speed solver to a person only for them to declare that the deck was clearly a battle deck. 1e is just too complex a game for this kind of list....

I find the list of 1E Affiliations and all the Factions to be way, way too complicated.

Perhaps a Hurt and Heal for the top 20 1E DILEMMAS would be more valuable to the Community and Designers?

One of my main complaints about 1e is the lack of dilemma diversity. The cc struggles to make quality dilemmas.

I'd agree with this until Through the Looking Glass, there seemed to be some serious effort on making better dilemmas in that set on wards, particularly Broken Bow, which has heaps of great dilemmas.

I feel its because they don't want to make an NPE.

I mean let's be honest here. If you ever ran against Chula + Sheliak + Q + Dead End you never made the same mistake twice. Same with 'God' and many many many other cards.

We need dilemmas to make an opponent pay for just trying to redshirt their way through a dilemma pile but many of them have been neutered and we have decent walls now but now people save their downloads to be more strategic or make sure that one personnel alone can complete the mission requirements for a mission.

But it really is a larger issue than just lack of dilemmas. It also has roots in the fact that we have to seed so many cards to make a deck competitive that we rely on only 3 or less dilemmas in many cases.

Is this a development tool, or just a fun game? (Or a bit of both?)

In any case, I wanted to reply, if only to practice how the icons and the list layout work. :) And... I think the Borg should move up in the universe! :borg:

Absolutely just a fun game. It's been such a long time since we had a hurt-n-heal thread in this forum.
