Hi there,

just building my first deck since... whoa. feels like a LONG time. But a friend of mine is going to game on sunday and built a ds9 Maquis deck. This inspired me to build a "shady" Cardie-Deck to finally settle the dispute between those 2. (a different idea would be to build a TNG Maquis deck to see who reigns supreme).

Anyway. I got Terok Nor and I Miss This Office as my main play enginge. In addition, to be more shady, I chose Nano-Biogenic Disarmament as a second free play thing. Now, the pool of people being able to report for free isnt that great. More importantly though, I cant seem to draw cards. There´s A Better Alternative - but is it though? It´s super random if I even draw it. So I thought about New Arrivals but that makes reporting more than 1 for free impossible.

ASP with Dominion War Effort also is in the mix.

What are the more recent options to draw cards? I need my card plays to play sites and ships - so stacking lots of Handshakes isnt that cool. Mutation doesnt give me any cards, it just trades 2 for 2, same goes for The Power (unless I foolishly let my opponent choose).

Any ideas?

Greater Glory of Cardassia makes ore processing safe, and can download stuff (like A Better Alternative) if someone seeds DS9.

We Need You Here can help you set up things like Duck Blind or Process Ore: Mining by dialing the relevant skills. PO:M* can be fetched by Taking Charge, possibly empowered by a dialed Gul.

If you're using Quark's Bar, you could get draws from Morn. You could even dial Morn if you use a site on Cargo Bay. You could also use a Holosuite and Café des Artistes; Cardassian Quark special downloads his love interest.

You can do lots of things with Cardassians, BUT most of it starts working, when the game is almost over (turn 4 or later)...

Thats my impression, too... I´m also wondering if Nors are really viable with the amount of seed cards / regular card plays I need... why not just make HQ free plays?

@Ausgang: Yeah, I was looking for a more Alpha-quadrant approach. Evil Weapon trader imperialists...

I think I´ll scrap the idea for now and just do a different deck. Sad though that DS9 seems to be sub par compared to TNG.

If I were to build a DS9 Cardassian deck, I'd skip I Miss This Office and Terok Nor and go with Joint Operation instead. Better personnel, and they can report to Central Command along with your Guls. Get a Gul with DWE/ASP, use him to get Process Ore: Mining on a mission. I'd consider using a universal Nor and We Need You Here, but it conflicts with DWE/ASP and takes the normal card play.

Another option to consider is opposite quadrant mission specialists and Study Divergent History. You can seed a Cardassian Outpost at Kressari Rendezvous, so you just have to hop next door to collect them.

I don't understand why regular Process Ore still has a ref card that targets it. Sure, Greater Glory is just one seed to protect it, but honestly that's one seed too many for what should be the signature Cardassian draw engine.

Exactly my thinking :D One thing I saw on Joint ops is that they dont NEED to report in the Orias System. I might as well report them for free in the HQ, right?

I do some fun stuff in my Cardie deck.

I do the whole Joint Operation play engine at the HQ. I also do Kressari Rendezvous next to it (love Regions) and seed a Nor and Crossover and We Need You Here. You'll also need a Quark's Iso Rods and TMW.

So turn 1 I download a ship if I didn't draw into one. I also Defend Homeworld for Overseer Odo and Quark's Rods for Miles O'Brien from Emissary.

Turn 2 I TMW Miles to the ship. I get myself another Engineer. Download Process Ore with Odo. Move the Nor to Cardassia using Reaction Control Thrusters and begin to process ore on Turn 3. This also protects your cards with Strategema.

I also have Crossover so you can get Fontaine (DL using site Cargo Bay) & SC Garak. I seed a MQ planet to download an emblem to get Art of Diplomacy. That way SC Garak can get 2 weapons and Fontaine can get 2 weapons and then you have the 4 weapons to max out Kressari Rendevouz when you go to attempt it.

I also get Legate Damar to download For Cardassia! so you can HQ: Secure Homeworld and turn that into a 50 point HQ. So if you figure out to get another 5 more points like killing off Aamin Marritza or File Mission Report and it's an easy 2 mission win by turn 5-6.

Greater Glory is much more then just the ore protection, its anti being borked by DS9 and anti commandered tech for your NOR

DS9 Cardassians feel too "Draw/Play" luck dependent when it comes to Verbs.

I wish there were (more?) seedable Objectives that pulled themes together.
