Here's your pre-registered field for Continentals tomorrow and their going-in rating:
Robin Honeycutt 1803
Sean O'Reilly 1614
Maggie Geppert 1574
Daniel Matteson 1547
Matthew McClain 1361
This is real easy. You make 2 picks: Winner and most improved rating. I'll do something similar for Nationals next week and Worlds next month. Whoever gets the most points wins.
I don't have any prize support. If any of the powers that be want to chip in a foil or something I won't turn it down, but this is just for the love of the game.
My Picks:
Winner: With MVB running the judge's table, and Robin Honeycutt apparently a late scratch (HINT: DONT PICK HIM) this field is small, but wide open! The Old Schooler Sean O'Reilly becomes the nominal favorite, and I've seen Sean play enough good 1e over enough years to know he brings the goods to the big events. With the big dogs out of the field, he's my pick to win.
Most Improved: This field is one of ratings parity, and from what I've seen in past small field events, the Winner and most improved are pretty strongly correlated. As such, even though he has the lowest ceiling, if Sean goes 3-0 he'll still pick up enough points to outclass the field, so I'm going with an Old Schooler double dip on the 1e side!
What do you think? Who walks out of MouseHouseLand with the title and the bragging rights? We'll find out in a little under 48 so get your picks in quick!
