Putting this up now because I won't be around much next week...
Here's the Standings in the Championship Season Pickem so far:

McCalpin 2
Sykes 1
Here's your field for the 2021 World Championship as of today:

Jeremy Huth 1773
Michael Van Breemen 1752
Justin Ford 1736
James Heaney 1651
Sean O'Reilly 1643
Joe Kallstrom 1560
Daniel Matteson 1518
Tim Gerrard 1465
Brian S 1446
JD_Ashley 1349
Same as before, pick a winner and a most improved rating, but this time you need to do it for both Day 1 AND Day 2 - so 4 picks total.
Day 1 is going to be wide open - with a field only slightly larger than the cutoff, a .500 day should get you through to day 2. That's a hard field to pick a winner in, but I'll go ahead and give the nod to Kris Sonsteby. He's been playing at a high level for over 2 decades now and I don't see him rolling into a World Championships in his (relatively speaking) back yard unprepared.
As for most improved, I think it's too hard to go chalk when there's a wide array of ratings combined with a sky high K-value. It only takes one win against one of the top dogs by a lower rated player to take the day on ratings gain. That said, I think MVB represents a nice combination of upside winning potential with a rating low enough in relative terms to return a solid value, so I'm going with MVB
As for Day 2, this is a tough call. Whoever wins is most likely to gain the most ratings points, but with the Swiss format (instead of a bracket) being the choice, all of the finalists will get the same number of games so the ratings bonanza upset potential is definitely there. That said, I still think MVB is the guy to beat, and that ranking/rating ratio screams value, so I'm going for the MVB Double Dip for the 2021 1e World Championship win and biggest rating increase.
You have until Day 1 kicks off to make your picks.
What do you all think? Will it in fact be the MVB show? Or will The Frozen Chosen have something to say about that?
