There might be a possible other direction to take as well. And it comes down to what the CC really stands in the question. Is it about the old game or the new game? If we bring in older players, I can understand the idea of going through the sets, but at the same time, that seems strange as they most probably have them.
New players are more likely to not have too many cards and, as such, are more likely to print the cards or even finished decks from the site.
So build it on teaching the game from a gameplay structure. Preferably with finished decks that they can just print and follow along with.
Start easy, just the basics and add events and Interrupts as you go along. Doorways will have to wait as well as battle.
