C’mon… who needs a hug?

Hello all, Happy Friday and welcome to your latest Friday Question!

Recently I’ve been looking at a lot of Alternate Images etc for cards. Very often we’ll try to use episodes which haven’t been as heavily mined for images, stories which haven’t featured on many (or any!) 1E cards yet.

So today’s question… which episodes or stories that we haven’t previously drawn from heavily would you like to see future cards or promos framed around?

There are lots of episodes still to take images from, so which are your favourites?

Let us know your thoughts!!!

Hard no on any more cards from Code of Honor.

Code of Honor and Patterns of Force are probably best avoided.

As DS9 is my favorite series would like some more stuff from the following episodes:

If wishes were horses
Fascination
Rejoined

(All the above would be a gold mine for more gender/love interest dilemmas)

Distant Voices

The Visitor - given how much people seem to love this episode (i'm super ambivilent) i'm surprised it hasnt been mined for more.

The Muse
The Sound of her Voice - at the very least this could have a new mission (one that d/l's Atmospheric Ionization?).
Covenant
Its only a paper moon
(These have nothing used from them. Great episodes. Rectify please!)

Waltz - this shocks me. Nothing used. Absolute Travesty
The Quickening - A personal favorite episode yet only has 1 card, a mission.

Time's orphan - 2e has pulled quite a bit from this, why hasnt 1e!?

I can think of a ton of things i'd like to see more of but i dont have all day to type.

EDIT**

- I will use this opportunity though to once again advocate for more stuff from TNG's "Cause and Effect"

Anything with zero cards.

That's still a lot to work with.

I want to make cards from the episodes with 0 cards, but I don't want to make AI's from them until there are cards from them.

Does that make sense? Maybe that's quirky.

As always, context is for kings.

If there's an episode that has a thing that can be used as an AI to an existing thing, we shouldn't let that be a barrier to making the AI.

By the same token, I don't want to get an AI from a certain episode and then get told "well we don't have to make cards for this episode now because we did a promo"

All that to say, let's get coverage any way we can and not let one path be a barrier to another.

My paranoia comes from a fear that, by mining images for episodes we haven't touched yet, we will accidentally cut off our ability to make cards later on.

For example: one time, a number of years ago, I pitched a The Lights of Zetar card. It had lots of problems, IIRC, and probably wasn't going anywhere regardless -- but one of several reasons it went down in flames was because the perfect image for the Lights of Zetar has already been used, on The Cloud (VP). There is therefore no space in the game for a Lights of Zetar card anymore.

(This was an internal Design discussion that never included Creative. Creative is not responsible for that decision and may have had a different perspective. ALSO, we've put in place various property-logo restrictions on AIs now that reduce the chances of that happening, which Creative has very gamely handled.)

So that's what unnerves me.

As someone whose playgroup consists almost entirely of new/returning/casual players, I'd almost rather see more old AI's reissued then new ones, so that people have a chance to obtain some of those foils that they missed out on earlier. If that also gives design a little bit more breathing room, all the better.

I also like Distant Voices (mid season 3 was when DS9 was at its science-fictioniest, with Past Tense, Meridian, and Visionary the same season. I feel like this is between when it was all Bajor focused in seasons 1-2 and then Klingon/dominion focused in 4-7).

In the same vein as Distant Voices, I think "Remember Me" amazing episode that deserves some more attention. Just as with Bashir Distant Voices trapped in his own head, Dr. Crusher is trapped in her own universe. (It was nice to see Dr. Crusher as a brilliant strong protagonist who solves a mystery both here and in Clues. Wesley clearly got that genius from somewhere!) Another similar episode would be Coda, where Janeway is facing a similar situation, or Projections where The Doctor can't figure out what's real and what's not or Peristance of Vision, where the entire Voyage crew gets stuck in their own fantasies one at a time.

I feel like all of these different episodes might offer a kind of broad category for a category of dilemmas. Like "Chula" or "The Clown" or maybe the way that 2E has different boldface mechanics for dilemmas. "Visions" maybe?

Since no one wants another Q flash side deck filled with dilemmas, maybe some kind of mechanic where the dilemmas function recursively? Like maybe thers's an incident you can seed, and when one of these dilemmas resolves you place it under the incident instead discarding it. The next time you hit another such dilemma, your opponent gets yo hit you with the first dilemma all over again.

Feels like something should tie together all these crazy nightmares....

What You Leave Behind and specifically more Prophets related things from that episode and the others leading up to the DS9 finale.

Dukat has been waiting for the Kosst Amojan almost as long as the Pah Wraiths have been entombed in the fire caves.
