Interesting point. Maybe Tinkerer's "once per game" repair of a facility should be changed to "once per game, per copy of this card"? It seems like designers intended to allow you to repair your ship twice to make up for the absence of any facility to do repairs.

Notably, if you have The Destruction of Earth in play, you can't shuffle equipment form your discard pile, so no one would use it for that function. Although I guess you could deliberately discard an equipment to download an engineer related equipment just to get a [Equ] out of the game to get as many types as possible removed.

Actually, the time location SS has made me think of using SF outpost. Unless I am mistaken, nothing prevents a player from seeding it at the newest mission Detain observer. The Q that I could not find any meaningful answer is whether the outpost could be seeded at the ceti alpha V.

Would love to read more about the testing issues and strategies. What were the staples when it came to removing cards from the game.

I was hoping for less obvious choices. Mutation, beyond the sub, smooth as...came to my mind as well.

Tinkerer is a non-cumulative Incident that can never leave play so I am not sure why I would need to download it a second time using the new Captain Tucker's ability.
Since there are "OR"s, could the first copy fix a ship and a second copy use one of the remaining equipment options?

It stays in play forever. You stop an ENGINEER(non- [Bor] ) to do the effects.

The first ability can only be used once and it's not cumulative so having a second copy won't let you use it again. The other two abilities you can stop an ENGINEER(non- [Bor] ) every turn for one or the other but having two copies won't let you use it twice because it's not cumulative.

I thought of one use of the second download: deck thinning. If you are play with the 30 card draw deck with two copies of Tinkerer in the deck you can thin the deck by one card when you dl the second copy assuming you haven't drawn it already meaning you have an effectively 29 card deck.

Obviously I am being facetious.

I would like to know if this was just something that was a typo/mistake or if there really is some significant advantage to being able to download the second copy.

Possibilities:
There is a card that was cut that discarded Tinkerer as a cost.
There is another card in the Tinkerer name group that was cut (e.g., Tinkerer: From Beyond).
There was a card that was cut that canceled incidents.
A designer mistakenly thought Tinkerer discarded as part of its effect.
