Love is in the air today, and is our topic for this 1EFQ!

For over 30 years, 1E has been fleshing out which personnel are “romantically involved”. And 10 years ago, the CC released Hologram: Cafe Des Artiste to finally give us a reason for having all those couples.

So tonight’s question: What should the next development be for Couples in 1E?

Now, I’m not asking for obvious answers about cards having more intimate encounters. But are there further next steps you would like to see? Attribute boosts for romantic partners? Ability to download an offspring? Or maybe break up a couple and bleed the other half of their skills?

1) give us back a reason to play multiple romantic couples. pre-errata cafe was interesting to build around.

2) close some of the related broken links.

Feels like there should be a way to use the fact that you have a couple in play to protect you from certain gender related dilemmas. After all, what does being a wife, husband, imzadi or whatever mean if you're going to run off the first time you meet a Male's Love Interest or Female's Love Interest?
Maybe this card could, in addition to granting that protection for your personnel, boost your own gender related dilemmas as a complement to Let Me Help by allowing you to add extra gender related dilemmas to your dyson sphere (as it is downloading 3 dilemmas each for 2 copies of Shore Leave and 2 copies of Looking for Parmach fills nearly the whole thing)*, or by creating a "stop" on any gender related dilemmas that would otherwise whif entirely for lack of targets. This would make sure you get SOME effect from Parallel Romance, Strange Bedfellows and Distraction, Anaphasic Organism, or a love interest dilemma even if the encountering crew or away team are all the same gender. (Usually male, usually after the 1-2 females are picked off/stopped by an earlier gender related dillemma.)

Maybe "I Love You" is a good candidate for this? As Kirk said to Edith Keeler, "Let Me Help" are 3 words even more important than "I Love You," so maybe the two cards should work together with "I Love you" being the less powerful of the two cards.

I also definitely feel like there should be a card that creates a new couple from two people present together. Perhaps "Make Out point" for this one? It would be important that the card not be gender restricted.

*Edit: I realize adding cards to a dyson sphere would be an unusual thing to do by a card that is played, rather than seeded. The text could read "You may place 4 gender related dilemmas from your draw deck in your dyson sphere." Since both Miramanee and Elaan are natives downloadable with preserve obelisk, they would likely be downlaoded in the seed phase, with the extra dillemmas treated similar to a "seed phase download" and kept out of the draw deck. Critically, you can't say "download" because the dyson's sphere blocks downloads of dilemmas from other locations.

To quote The Great Philosopher "A Divorce!" After a use, a card play renders them no longer a couple. Maybe put in a few other characteristics while you're at it.
