Greetings all. So as this is our first time through the scoring process, and results have begun to accumulate, the question has been raised as to how the VP Tally should be calculated. Here are the options we've got:

[SD] Currently, only the player's declared HQ will score VPs when played in a Campaign Event. The player may use different HQs in other events, but no VPs will count in those events unless they use their declared HQ (a "loyalty" bonus).

[SD] A suggested change: players earn VPs for an HQ each time they use it in a Campaign Event, regardless of their declared HQ. Players would only earn rank for their HQ when they use it in an event, but he/she may play for other HQs to earn VPs for those affiliations. This would probably need some incentive to make it worthwhile, maybe a "mercenary" or "espionage" bonus if you play all available HQs in at least one Campaign event each.

[SD] This format is designed to be driven by player feedback, so your ideas on how we could improve the current VP structure are welcome! Are there other ways we could adjust the HQ Tally make it more fun for players to play in Excelsior events?

Thanks as always for your feedback!

I didn't even know 'Declared HQ' was a thing.

This format is supposed to be simple and fun; don't overcomplicate it.

Let the players play. The story will take care of itself.

Okay, it seems to have been fairly uncontested that the whole concept of "ranking up" for one affiliation was not well received. So we're going to throw it out; there will no longer be extra bonuses nor ranks for repeat affiliation choices.

Here are the current methods to score VPs (2/17/18):

[SD] Each time you play an HQ, you'll score VPs for that HQ equal to your VPs in that event. (You must attach a decklist that qualifies for the related HQ Player achievement to score these VPs.)

[SD] Your tournament report in each event will score VPs for its corresponding HQ. The most popular TR for the month will score 10 VP, other entries will score 2 VP.

[SD] TDs can earn 5 VPs for the HQ of their choice for each new player they register for their events. (New players must register for the trekcc.org forums and complete all rounds of at least one Excelsior Campaign event.)

[SD] The Excelsior development team may also award up to 5 VPs for constructive feedback from players or TDs. The development team may also acknowledge special achievements in the Campaign with an appropriate VP reward.

This is a good decision.

Credit to Matt for being responsive to community feedback and adjusting appropriately in a timely manner rather than let an unpopular setup continue.
