But, yeah, you're just sort of... on the objective, I guess? I think the rules allow it but it's still kinda weird.
Nope, the objective is "on the table", it's not a location. The ship really would be "nowhere", since its location no longer exists and there would be no other locations available.

Kinda wish I could make that happen, but... don't think it's likely. :P

Well, the problem is that you'd need to find some way to stall so your opponent doesn't win while you're waiting for Black Hole to do it's thing. (If you go first and get the BH going immediately, it's turn *27* when you finally wipe out the spaceline!)

Though looking at it, since Black Hole creates a location, you'll always have at least one space line end, I believe.
But what happens when the Black Hole is the only thing left and your ship appears there and closes it with Examine Singularity? You're floating in Null Space?
I don't remember the exact verbiage of the rule but doesn't something say "if you cannot carry out all the instructions on a card, you can't use the card"?

ES says "Relocate all ships there to one other location in any quadrant" which seems to be a required action. Since you cannot do that, does that mean you can't use ES, and your ship gets destroyed by the black hole? Thus no "null space".

That rule you describe isn't actually written down anywhere, but does seem implied by how certain cards work -- like how Sherman's Peak can't be seeded or played unless Space Station K-7 is downloaded.

This seems to be a significant rule difference between 1E and 2E, since 2E has a "do as much as you can" rule.

I think the waters are muddy here though since we have "downloads that are side effects". Example: Assign Mission Specialists doesn't return to your hand as an invalid play if someone Computer Crashes it, it just doesn't download anyone.

Edit: I guess that says "May" though, maybe that's the key word.

Yep. AMS doesn't get stuffed on the "you can't play cards that require downloads" clause, but the "you can't download cards" clause.
