Imagine I'm making the following move:

Ship located at a [MQ] mission. --> BW:MU --> BW (alpha quadrant) --> alpha mission span 4.

How much span do I use? Does it take 1 span to move from the MQ:BW to the AQ:BW, or does that one span only count when I'm moving along the AQ spaceline?

The answer to this is either 1+1+4=6 OR 1+4=5

What about if I'm using Operate Wormhole Relays which says I can move through a wormhole using "RANGE = to twice the destination location." I would think my span used is 1+2+4=7 where two is "twice the 1 span of the destination location, the AQ:BW".

I believe your answers are 5 and 7. It doesn't take range to pass through the Bajoran Wormholes normally because they stop you. So 1 to arrive at wormhole, and 4 to leave if you unstopped somehow. With Relays, it is 1 to arrive, 2 to go through and 4 to leave.
