Hi everyone!

Two (beginner) questions: the rules say that an Away Team / crew acts as a whole (unless separated), but it doesn't clarify if I need to send my whole crew as an Away Team. Now, I feel that you may choose which crew members go on an Away Team and which stay aboard the ship, but the rules are vague on this.

Second question: the mission Amnesty Talks says "Any crew may attempt mission." Do the normal restrictions concerning opponent attempting that mission (40 points or more) still apply?

You can beam as many as you want from your crew (crew while on ship) down to a planet (away team while there). Usually when another ship also beams down, they join up.
For more details you can take a look at https://www.trekcc.org/op/1e_rulebook/#SEPARATED

Any crew means, any affiliation may attempt, but the icons are not all printed for cards like Line of Defense.

still applies to all missions.
