had a weird situation during a game ...

My opponent seeded Study Cybernetic Relics and had a Ferengi Trading Post.

He wanted to play his androids there, while there is already other aligned personnel there.


Is that possible?

After all, Ferengi Trading Post allows ALL personnel aboard to mix.

I believe this would not be true. Because the limitation on study cybernetics applies to Aligned personnel this would be an affiliation based restriction. Logically, that means that anything that overcomes an affiliation based restriction would work. I believe Ferengi Trading Post works in that way.

Frankly, it is a crummy strategy though to use FTP though because it is limited to just the outpost and doesn't provide other advantages of using PGP. Better choice is to play using Hostage Crisis, download Planet of Galactic Peace and put War Council on it Paradise City. Then you can get 2 free reports each turn - a android and a VIP or Civilian. Plus, you can use an aligned cybernetics personnel to power Cybernetics expertise (when legal to do so) because the affiliation based restriction is suspended by PGP.

The problem here (and the reason I'm not sure either way) is that as far as I can tell in the rules documents, the case where affiliation based restrictions are overcome is cited in the Glossary at "Does Not Work With," which isn't the same language here. But it certainly seems to function in a similar manner.

Actually...let me follow up with a question I'm 99.9% sure I have the answer to, but want someone else to say. I assume the mixing restriction on Study Cybernetic Relics would also apply to aligned Androids (say, B-4 or Data and Picard - you couldn't have Data and Picard, or even Data (Things Past) mixing with your other Androids

I have to make a point of order. Ferengi Trading Post can't play to Exo III for the mission doesn't have a Ferengi attemptability icon. Outposts can only be seeded or built at a mission with a relevant icon unless they say otherwise.

I never said the Trading Post was seeded there. He had the Trading Post at another mission.
