Hello all!

I am new to this site; I used to play back in the late 90s but looking to get back into it. Any Californians that get together here? Specifically in the Santa Cruz or Bay Area?

I've been putting off until after Worlds thoughts of getting back into the swing of things, but now that that's over, I'll start looking into interest in the area. I'm just north of San Jose, but we have people in the East Bay and S.F. We usually play in Fremont. I've sent a PM. Get in touch.

I’m a bit farther south in Paso Robles, but I’m interested as well. It’s been a long time and I’ve never gotten the chance to really play. Working on building my collection as I don’t have a lot of the newer cards yet.

Ooh! I have a place in Arroyo Grande that I visit from time to time. I'll give you a holler next time I'm heading down.

And as a quick update, I'm calling hotels to try to find a good venue. Space is generally limited in San Fran, so card/game shops don't often have large play areas or (as I found) are geared toward other games, where taking over for a weekend might be disruptive. If I don't find a hotel option, I might have to move my intentions down to the South Bay, where I know I can find room.

Hey I'm not from california, but you should know that Worlds are being held in San Francisco this year, so if you want to get back into the game, that's a heck of a place to start.

And speaking as a person whose rating would only get better if he didn't play... you've got nothing to lose by coming and playing!

My suggestion (which not every returning player wants to hear) is to print-and-play a TNG Block deck. They're a great re-entry point for the game, and just about everyone can and will be able to give you pointers on how to play it, if you need it. And it lets you use some of those old cards (probably) in a modern deck.

Howdy! We have a group that mets monthly for 2e, and we've been averaging every few months for 1e. - @The Guardian usually puts it together.

Feel free to ping me directly if you want, as well. Our next 2E/Tribbles date will be Saturday the 10th, but we are normally on the first Sunday of the month.

For 1E, the next time will probably be after worlds.

But I'm also happy to meet up at a local shop to go over basics, play a few games, bring some decks and get back into it. (Any format)

For any of the formats, we always have extra decks and everyone is patient and happy to get up to speed.

Do try to make it to worlds. It is a great group of people, far more welcoming than any other game at an event titled "world championship."
