It was Romulans with lots of discard events to prevent stops, similar to what Stefan played from what little I saw - Commandeer Prototype, Assess Contamination, Aid Legendary Civilization and maybe TCS.

I've been out of it for a while but people are playing non-skill dilemmas again...en masse so much that those cards matters a lot. Honestly looking at the deck I think what you said plus the FSE/Tragic Turn aspect make it scary. Just puts insane pressure on the opponent to not screw up.

As someone who played Greg today, I concur. I was running cheapo cadets because I knew what was coming today, but his kills + forced discards were really cramping my style. Luckily, I was running a mostly skill dilemma pile, which slowed him down enough to allow me time to get one mission done. Well played, sir!

Also, I learned yesterday that Sabotage is a really fun Tribble power.

Given that TT/ACE is seemingly the dilemma pile du jour right now, why is this a surprise? Combine that with the nerfs to the Borg and Klingon downloaders and it's no real shock that the (already good) Romulans are at the top of the heap.

However, looking at that deck, and given my previous experience playing Romulans, they do have weaknesses, and they are beatable, just not as easily in the current meta. I don't see this as a bad thing.

In general: Take out the downloading engine (Tal and/or Viceroy). That makes it a lot harder to find what's needed in a 75 card deck.

More specific: Romulans aren't the greatest at passing the 8-cost killers. Nor do they hold up as well against event destruction (Ferenginar/Brunt wrecks the whole thing). This deck (like any other deck out there) can be beaten with the right tools, but since some of those tools are a) out of favor and b) carry risks of their own, I'd say Greg made a good choice and clearly did what he needed to do to get the win.
