To be fair though, some of those famous female characters aren't even "super" heroes or mutants. Aunt May, Mary Jane, & Gwen Stacy are all just as iconic as Spider-Man. Sure not as a hardcore forever as some, but my mom could tell you who Aunt May & Mary Jane are in the Spider-Man universe, so that's saying something IMO.
