That sucks, Fritz. I'm sorry to hear about this.

Speaking of Entilzha, I checked out to see if that CAH free online client is still around because I'm running an online party with my old coworkers Friday. I had to wait a bit to set up a game though (on a Wednesday, at that), and I'm wondering what other online party games I could offer.

Codenames is also free and fun, though I've already played a lot of that recently. Makes a good virtual party game.

Any other suggestions? I like free, but don't mind paying a reasonable fee, as long as I'm not asking everyone to pay to play. Looking for mostly party games; I'm already subscribed to Dominion, but that won't really be their speed.

Saw an article yesterday pointing to playingcards.io as another service that's offering a CAH-like. (Same deal: cards are CC, but you can't call it "Cards Against Humanity".)

Clan Gould will probably be hosting some more Jackbox this weekend as well, now that we gave up on free apps and just use Zoom like civilized people. ;)

My work's picked right up - we'd just slowed down after our busy time, now suddenly we're busier than our busy time. We're working 6 days a week for a stretch longer than I think we've ever done it. We ended up working 7 days last week because of an equipment issue that put us behind earlier in the week, so today was day 10 of a 13-day stretch.

Which Rule Of Acquisition is "Plague is good for business"? [Rule]

Meanwhile, I'm having to keep an eye on the situation with USCIS office closures - I've managed to ignore them for 9-ish years and suddenly they're relevant to me (running around with an expired Green Card is one of those no-nos that I'm really hoping to avoid).

Thanks for the well-wishes people. I've been told that my job is safe, but where yesterday I thought I was about to move to a new team, neither the old team nor the new team exists, and I am the only person left in either.

UPDATE: as best I can tell 70-ish people out of 180 are gone, plus a bunch of contractors.

The narrative that is playing in my head right now is that for the investor who screwed us over, in a few months time this company will appear to be a really attractive buy when all that's left is skin and bones.

For some reason, I didn't see the original post. Sorry to hear that. It sucks balls. But, glad to at least see you're job will still be there.

Sadly, you're probably right; the decision was "Why invest now when we can buy it for a lesser price later on". That deserves some public shaming should it happen.

Probably why any pure "-ism" (socialism, capitalsm, etc) doesn't work.

Take care and stay safe.

I don't know why my name came up, but thanks ;)

Man, I haven't played CAH (online or in-person) in years. Another fond memory from years prior.

True story:

Sprout lost his tooth the day before last.

He still sort of believes in the tooth fairy, so he made sure to tell me that he had placed the tooth in an Altoid's tin under his pillow for safe keeping.

At this point it's almost bedtime, and I'm thinking, "shit, I have no cash."

So I tell him that the tooth fairy is practicing social distancing and won't be working that night.

I think I might go to Hell for this one.

Only if he catches one of the politicians saying that the Fairy and the Bunny are essential services. :D

They might be essential. Somebody has to keep those witches from getting control of kids via their teeth, after all.

I think as long as you make it clear the tooth fairy will pay up once the current crisis is over, and follow through, you should be okay.

All the Best,

Mattgomery Scott.

I found some cash and stuck it in the tin while he was downstairs doing school work yesterday morning. I guess she can work while they're not in the room. :shifty:
