Is Atlantic City actually a big deal? Perhaps it was a bigger deal back in the days the game was first made.

Watch Boardwalk Empire. By the 1970's they were desperate and turned it into a casino whorehouse. Then Trump somehow manage to fuck that racket up.

They were building more casinos in the 2000's when the bubbles burst, that's slowed them down awhile. I escaped NJ a few years later. I'm sure the plague has the place a ghosttown now. The entire Jersey Shore is going to get wrecked because of this.

I do think the game needs to be played properly but it's hard to take it that seriously. People tilt out when they go bankrupt and start to change the rules on the fly.

That's also my House Rules, and yes the 3x double is rules as written.

I voted railroads as well - they don't bankrupt the opponent but they get you the money to buy the properties to bankrupt the opponent.

But I like The Game Of Life better.

Depends on the version - the newer ones leaned way harder into the roll-and-move, it seemed.

As for Monopoly, somewhere I have the rules for a version that glues Cosmic Encounter onto it, which helped some. (But yet, still doesn't make Monopoly a good game). I'd rather play Get Out!, or Starbase Jeff, or Firefly if I have a free afternoon...

Weirdly, the article makes it sound worse than the rulebook does. (The rulebook says that there are still only 22 properties - if you buy Boardwalk you own all three instances).

On the other hand, the rest of the changes just sound miserable.

Like seriously - why wouldn't you just play a *good* game instead? Or at least a bad game that's funny, like Junta?
