Hey Team,
2 events today, both very casual, just so people could reacquaint themselves with each other. It was fun. Gracing us with their presents from the US was Amber and MVB, funny, warm charming as always, and from Canada Big Ken, the amazingly humble player of remarkably high play skills. Former Sydney player, now Taswegian, Pete Hill, has flown up for the weekend. His commitment to this game is inspiring. And he is a fine man.
7 players arrived to play the midday 2E event. It was scheduled for 3 rounds, but everyone was just enjoying playing and chatting, so we extended it to 4. After round 4, the following results were posted
1st The Ninja Scott 3-1 Dominion/DS9 commodities
2nd Chompers 3-1 Relativity
3rd Amber 3-1 not sure
4th Walzo 2-1-1 DS9
5th Ken 2-2 borrowed TNG
6th Peg Leg 1-1-2 can't remember, but Khan was involved
7th Honest 1-3 Ferengi Commodities
As I said, lots of fun, its what TREK is all about
Break for dinner, then 1e began. I don't have the results, however there were 4 runners (myself, Walzo and Amber weren't up for it). I'll post what happened whilst 1E worlds is on tomorrow.
I wasn't sure how things would go this weekend. A lot of controversy was around the decision to have Sydney host this years Worlds, and few things have impacted the local Sydney numbers. After today, I am really glad the event is here and I agreed to help organise things. It is good to see cool people playing great games. Chompers rocked up with a big plastic tub he is donating into the prize pool. Ken borrowed a learn to play deck off me because he wanted to keep a fun event fun. AMber added a gentle class to proceedings, and Peg Leg Pete started talking about a 4 week European vacation next year with his wife, that just happened to end up is Vienna. It is good to see the community at its best again.
Here is to a great weekend, more details as they come to hand
Thanks all
