Paddy made this deck I tried it out. Lessons
1) TOS andriods are already very good with skill cheating and good skill density
2) Surak repeat draws at the cost of a free play are an amazing engine (especially as you can also use him to redshit)
3) Quite a coincidence is too easy of a way to get a lot of points. Being able to reliably get 30-50 in three turns is too much

Just curious - Why time location/Protect the Timeline as opposed to Outpost/Final Frontier, especially when adding War Council to make Surak for free in a turn?

Paddy and I were just talking about this. No clear reason. although it did fake out at least one opponent about where I would be starting

i havent gotten a NA droid deck to work yet. i think it still lacks too many skills. the deck can barely pass Authorized Access Only,Stand-Off and A Miner Confrontation
only surak draw makes the deck viable. QAC is cute, but it eats valuable seedcards and you still need a P and S to win. 2 mission wins arent unheared of (more like the norm) and 5 seedslots to nullify dead end seems fair.
10 points for a seedslot is kinda on par with assign mission specialist.
maybe Green shouldnt be a preserver seed though.
congrats on the win, but it seems you didnt face the most competitive decks. if surak can redshirt, nobody had villagers, which is always a bad choice

on a side note, im sad i missed the tourny, because it got buried in the site structure. can we have an overview, what format is played, so i dont have to click on every tourny thats listed?

I ran a similar deck recently:

https://www.trekcc.org/1e/decklists/ind ... ckID=24551

...but I really, really struggled with skill holes. Zinno held me off with familiar killer-walls like Spatial Rift and Rules of Obedience, plus just good walls like Nanobiogenic Fugitives (Physics! Augh!). MVB had me on the ropes with his downright artistic combination of maxed-out DNA Security Scan + Explosive Decompression + Disgraceful Assault -- pretty well guaranteed to destroy a ship with ten personnel aboard, whatever skill-cheating I might try to do. And he ran it at BOTH space missions I needed to attempt!

The only game I won was against Professor Scott, who (blessedly) was playing Ferengi Ambushes and not skill walls. And, ironically, that was the only game where I did not get Surak draws, because Keii blocked them with Valuable Prisoner!

I tend to think that the key problem here is QAC allowing you to make it a two-mission win deck. Mine was a four-mission win deck, which in retrospect was not the right move with these particular guys, but it certainly wasn't OP. I probably could have won all my games if I only needed two mission to win, though.

A 4-mission win deck is a very different kettle of fish from a 2-mission win deck.

Also, Niall says he was using Valuable Prisoner, but that didn’t work (some loophole around relocation not covering time travel).

It’s a combination of factors that combine for this deck, but if you remove Surak, that house of cards comes tumbling down.

so we got a new more or less competitive deck in the meta, thanks to surak. wasnt that the intention?

do you wanna play the same old decks from the past 20 years?

again, if anything i think green is somewhat problematic, because it allows the deck to accelerate turn1. the engine should at least take a turn to get going. (defend homeworld -> Excalbian Kahless)

i also would argue relocation includes timetravel. (technically timetravel is a relocation itself.

Toyed with Excalbians as well. But my deck was not that streamlined and did not include Quite a Coincidence and Preserver Obelisk and was using Empok Nor for tons of guns. I enjoyed the deck very much.

Hm. On one handside I can see the problem on the other handside: TOS NonA is fun to play...

Quite a Coincidence should be unique or once per game. Probably 2 draws not three for Surak. And somehow limit Preserver Obelisk to twice per game probably? Those would be my suggestions.

I asked Jon to test it now, before the bigger competitions kick into gear.

If it’s beating World Champions in three turns, it does appear to prove that it’s too good.

It also wasn’t an interaction seen during testing, so needs looking at.

The rules are really clear that time travel is only allowed by cards that say they allow time travel (hence the part of the wormhole errata that says even a time location). You cannnot use any form of other movement to do it. Relocation is a form of movement. Ergo, you cannot use it to time travel.

I agree there are a lot of draw-too-much options creating few-turn games.

i am for reduceing of all universal draw engines
  • holoprogram to 2 draws / couples
  • study divergent history to 1 draw /2 personal stopped)
  • remove handshakes 3rd option completly
  • reducing kivas fajo the collector to 2 draws
= more turns and may be people then also have the normal card play for ships/personal that normaly cannot play for free instead of handshakes...

back to topic:
10 points for a normal card play and killing one owns personal is the easiest way for bonus points. why use themed pagh or themed ferengi military operations then?
