[The Guardian]

Every once in a while, we get the 2E conversion of a 1E card. This project converts each 1E card that does not have a 2E version yet. Generally, I take a gameplay standpoint and avoid overpowered mechanics. I work within the mechanics, icons, and keywords we already have. I try to retain the spirit of the card in some fashion, even if I have to change story for gameplay or vice versa. Afterwards, I would love feedback and will even alter the card further and save the collaborated results for comparison if the case arises.

Reliance on automation can be dangerous. In 2268, shipboard tests of the M-5 multitronic unit with a skeleton crew resulted in the unit defending itself with deadly force.
If ship has any attribute > number of personnel in crew, kills a unique personnel (random selection) for each of this ship’s staffing icons. Mission continues.

2E Equivalent:
2 Multitronic Menace
Unless you have 2 Engineer, Honor, and Cunning>30 or Diplomacy, 2 Programming, and Integrity>28, all your personnel are stopped and this dilemma is placed on your ship.
Damage – To attempt this mission, you must command a number of personnel aboard equal to or greater than the lowest attribute of this ship.

Notes:
From what I can see, this punishes you from using a big ship (or a small crew) or a ship with a lot of staffing requirements, which seems to be the opposite of cards in 2E. Attributes are consistently higher than the number of personnel attempting and players pay for it. Instead, if you don’t have Kirk and Daystrom around to talk the computer to death, the more they overtake the plumbing…
