If anyone could point me in the right direction for this I'd be grateful...

It seems that almost all 1e decks have the Q's Tent sidedeck to store all their downloadable cards.

Apart from a really odd number (13) and a crappy false planet stage set pic, that's fine.

so I'm pitching a new Tent idea...

What I'm thinking about are Affiliation themed 'Tents', which I'm calling for now 'Computer Core' cards (since this is where you download cards from).

They are the same as Q's Tent, but would have a smaller capacity (say 10 cards?), BUT each Affiliation Core would give a bonus to certain themed cards that were placed within it, depending on the Affiliation? Clearly you couldn't put Personnel or ships with a different affiliation within it either.

So playing a Romulan Computer Core might give a bonus to certain Romulan cards if played from it etc.

The original 'catch all' Q's tent is still viable, this is just a thematic alternative.

I would love some ideas on how to theme the Cores - what bonuses to what cards for each Core. I don't think they need to be excessive (for space reasons if nothing else), just give a flavour of the Affiliation.

Thoughts?

I've finally come up with what I believe a viable way forward:

Computer Cores: These Doorway cards are seeded at the start of the game and open a new side-deck that can be used instead of a Q’s Tent as a way of storing downloadable cards. So that they do not invalidate Q’s Tent, the Computer Cores are smaller in size and have restrictions on Personnel and Ships that can be stored within. However to make them a viable alternative, but not over-powered, they allow duplication of cards within and for an Affiliation theme, each Core lets you take a card into your hand when you do something that matches the ‘core purpose’ of the Affiliation. I’ll detail new Cores as I introduce new Affiliations into the solo game. Since I don’t count ‘Non-Aligned’ as an Affiliation, these are the first four:

Federation Computer Core: Place atop Federation Computer Core side deck (up to 10 cards but Personnel and Ships must be Federation) during the seed phase. Computer Core is now open and in play. Once per turn, if you complete a Mission with a Federation icon, take a card from Computer Core into your hand. You may not play Q’s Tent. Inaccessible if Computer Crash in play.

Klingon Computer Core: Place atop Klingon Computer Core side deck (up to 10 cards but Personnel and Ships must be Klingon) during the seed phase. Computer Core is now open and in play. Once per turn, if your Klingon leader wins a personnel or Ship Battle, take a card from Computer Core into your hand. You may not play Q’s Tent. Inaccessible if Computer Crash in play.

Romulan Computer Core: Place atop Romulan Computer Core side deck (up to 10 cards but Personnel and Ships must be Romulan) during the seed phase. Computer Core is now open and in play. Once per turn, if you play an Espionage card or complete a Mission with an Espionage card present, take a card from Computer Core into your hand. You may not play Q’s Tent. Inaccessible if Computer Crash in play.

Ferengi Computer Core: Place atop Ferengi Computer Core side deck (up to 10 cards but Personnel and Ships must be Ferengi) during the seed phase. Computer Core is now open and in play. Once per turn, if you play a ‘Rules of Acquisition’ Event, take a card from Computer Core into your hand. You may not play Q’s Tent. Inaccessible if Computer Crash in play.

I'd welcome opinions and thoughts...

I think you're on to something. I personally have wanted increased tent-like space for niche factions for a while (being a player who likes minimalist draw decks), something like:

[Door] Docking Port Door
Place atop Docking Port Door side deck (up to 13 Support Personnel) during the seed phase. It is now open and in play. Personnel in this side deck may only be downloaded if they are [1E-DS9] .

A nice little perk for Dominion War Efforts builds (as long as they stick to Reshape the Quadrant cards), but I'd also happily use it in any Here By Invitation deck as fuel for mid to late game Ops downloads.

Similarly, something for [1E-TNG] Mission Specialists is also on my wishlist.
