Welcome to today's First Edition Friday Question, where I'm going to ask you a question about 1E... on Friday. Ok, it's not the most creatively named segment, but it works. At least you know what's going to happen. Last week, I asked about characteristics in the game that need some love, and you guys provided tons of great answers and discussions!

This week, we're going to change gears. Here's this week's question:

Which card do you most want to see as an alternate image (AI) promo?

For years now, we've made alternate image (AI) foil promos. There are a lot of factors that go into the decisions, but I'd really like to find out what the current visitors to this forum want to see become a promo. Maybe it's a reprint as part of a project, or maybe we turn it into a virtual foil for tournament kits. I don't know where it will end up. But I do know that I want to hear which cards you guys are dying to see get a new image/story.

One thing to note: we have a rule that facilities, ships, and personnel can't change property logos (since we've made those gameplay relevant with cards like Continuing Mission. So if you pick one of those card types, you won't be able to see it given an AI from a different series. Sorry folks, no chance of getting a William T. Riker from Voyager; it would have to be a new card. All other card types can change, though.

So what do you think? Which card do you most want to see as an alternate image (AI) promo?

Have a great weekend! Don't forget, if you're playing 1E, teaching 1E, or just building some 1E decks, take a photo and post it. If you use the #showusyourspaceline hashtag on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or here on the site, you'll be entered in a drawing for a random prize!

I'm still one of those people who primarily wants AIs so I can print high-quality versions of physical cards I don't own -- particularly the ones with the crappiest gifs, particularly particularly the ones that I typically use in multiple. (Imagine how much prettier our Bajoran decks could all be if most of us didn't have to print five copies of this garbage image!)

You know what? That's my vote. The AI I want most is Espionage: Bajoran on Cardassian. There's plenty more Decipher cards where I have a similar situation, but that's the one that most often disappoints me.

I'm a big fan of AI'ing the really hard to come by old 1E cards that still have the gross shadow when you try to print them for use in the modern game. Most notably, Enhanced First Contact stuff jumps to mind. So, my vote will be for Add Distinctiveness. I would imagine we have plenty of potential options for that one!

Agree with this priority for AI's. For that reason I would say these two;
Explore Dyson Sphere
Repair Mission
They are the only cards on the Affiliation HQ cross Affiliation top 10 list that still only have the drop shadow image.

Apart from those, other drop shadow cards that would look nice or that I personally often use:
Stop First Contact - There should be some nice AI images here!
Salvage Starship - Same here, and both these ones are Borg staples.
Ocular Implants - Rather commonly used, although better AI might be trickier to find...
Worf Son of Mogh - Should be plenty of good image potential here
Temo'Zuma and/or Yak'Talon - Staples in Dominion decks

Sort all cards appearing in a deck by most-used. Narrow list to those with drop-shadow or scanned foil image. Start at the top of that list and work down. I'll draft the SQL query if you want. :P

The top-used Physical card without a Virtual reprint is I'm A Doctor, Not A Bricklayer. But that has no dropshadow.

(Ditto Chula: The Game and Spatial Rift.)

The most commonly used card with a dropshadow and no Virtual print is currently Scientific Method. However, it DOES have the Tribbles print, which is a solid hi-res scan, so you're probably using that if you print your deck.

The most commonly used card with a dropshadow and absolutely no alternative is Unscientific Method. Which, if you look, is indeed completely hideous.

Yeah, we should fix that one.

Sure, send me the list. It would be good to have regardless.

But to everyone else, keep posting your picks. No matter why you want to pick it.

I'd love to see some DS9 AIs (main characters, ships, station) using the beautiful HD re-mastered footage from the new Documentary.

Side note - "What We Left Behind" is outstanding. I absolutely loved it. Funny, quirky, thoughtful. The doc DS9 and the fans deserved.

If we have access to those shots, then that would be something I'd very much like to do.

I'd wager a slip of latinum TrekCore will screen cap the documentary.
