Hello folks, and welcome back to this week's Friday question. The Department of First Edition is hard at work finishing up Project Londo, the third and final set in the Original Series block of expansions. You soon will be bathed in [Kli] [OS] spoilers and there will be lots more goodness to behold.

I'm currently very, very deep in the weeds of long term planning for the future. I've been thinking about a lot of the old decks and themes we've supported in the past, and how long it's been since some of them have been revisited. I figured that would make a great topic for today's question. Which old decks and/or themes would you like us to revisit in the future?

Specifically, I'm looking for suggestions of things we can go back to, not new things. For example, would you like to see us go back and revisit [1E-TNG]? Or maybe just that block's theme of being at an opponent's mission? Does the [1E-GQ] need more love? Or would you really like to see more Think Tank stuff? You can go as far back as Premiere to find things you want us to pick up now. It doesn't matter if it was Decipher-created or CC-created, I just want to know what you'd like to see us revisit as we move forward.

Have a great weekend. Remember that our site will be down for upgrades tomorrow, so don't panic if you can't visit the site!

The entire [Maq] faction, but really additional toys for [1E-TNG] [Maq] , [1E-DS9] [Maq] , and [1E-DQ] [Maq] would all be good.

Give me a reason to actually play a legit [Maq] deck instead of just having them be a bolt-on side piece for whatever free report salad deck they're getting splashed into.

And this time, now we know we don't have to be nice about handing out the wrenches... :shifty:

I'm up for more [1E-TNG] stuff, though specifically new ways to play the nouns we have. Time Locations, DNA Hunters, Gomtuu chasing, that sort of thing. (And, of course, Gatherers.) I desperately want better non-card-play drawing for TNG, since the ability to use your card play on things like AMS is a big part of what I miss about the second CM draw. I don't even need (or even particularly want) TNG to be the focus of the expansion, but some fun toys here and there would be greatly appreciated.

You’ve seen the Carter/Ludwig Nationals winning Maquis decks, yes? Those weren’t “bolt ons”...

Continuing to keep deck themes that make sense with affiliations, and overall balance, are important.

Look at the least played affiliations ( [Vid], [22] [NA], [1E-DQ] [Kli], [1E-DS9] [Baj], [TE] [SF], etc.) and send a few cards their way.

Cards that increase incentives for capture / manipulation (maybe deck manipulation?) for [Car], or bonus points for Espionage for [Rom], or creative attack focuses for [Kli] or [Kaz], especially in personnel battle.

[Q] cards are generally unloved, would be great to see some incentive to use a Q-Flash because often the extra seed card isn't worth it. "Q-Who" was solely focused on [1E-TNG] [Bor]!

i'm going to give a generic and probably unhelpful answer, but i grew up loving the chain from TNG to DS9 to Voyager, and then flaming out on Enterprise. We've been on Enterprise and OS themed sets for a LONG time now and while CC has done GREAT with them, they just don't generate the excitement in me the other shows do, especially TNG and DS9.... the last "full sized" TNG or DS9 themed set was Crossover which came out almost 5 years ago to the day.

So that's my generic request... return to TNG/DS9

I get *why* people hate mission stealing from a gameplay perspective, and I'm not entirely sure there's a good way to fix it and keep it fair - but I'm always sad that this isn't part of the game any more.

It takes part of the mission card design and makes it pointless. (Pun semi-intended I guess.)

It's ironic that 2E took away the possibility, even as they changed the dilemma design to one that could have worked fine with mission stealing.

Do I really miss it that much? No. But from a design standpoint of wasted card space, and from a Trek-sense of others should be able to do these missions, I miss it.

Part of me would prefer, if mission stealing is to remain verboten, that we just stop designing the opponent's sides with text boxes and use that space for more text or effects not he missions to make them interesting instead of just point boxes and stats.
