I conceded after drawing my whole deck in frustration at not drawing a ship in the first five turns. They were all grouped together at the very bottom of the deck. Apparently this may be a Lackey glitch. No wonder Tjark shuffled his decks 1000 times before we started.

I often have the opposite problem, getting 2-3 ships in my opening hand.

There is... some debate over whether that is a bug, or just a side effect of Lackey randomizing the cards more than what we would typically experience with physical shuffling. The Lackey developer is certainly on the side of it not being a bug, to the extent of disabling repeated shuffles intentionally.
