It's getting to be the end of the year, so let's take a look back on it.

What's your favorite card art in the past 12 months?

This includes:
Alternate Universe: Twilight
Lifesigns
Showdown: Four Lights
...and various errata and VPs (incl. Four Lights: Supplemental).

Mine's Raid Encampment.

I'm usually a fan of any mission cards and pictures of space that are more exciting/colourful/dynamic than just another ball in space or a ship from a conservative angle, so I like for example Dark Matter Pockets and Detain Observer (not so much the ones that look like spaceships were copied-and-pasted in).

But the ones I think I like the most are

[1E-AU] Terok Nor and Close That Door!
for personnel, Parek (the smile and the dutch angle) and Deanna Troi

I love the picture on Singha Refugee Camp. I don't think I've watched Wrongs Darker Than Death of Night since I had kids, and that shot hits me straight in the feels now in a way it didn't 20 years ago.

Then i started working on a deck using A New Earth for an upcoming video and now i think its a tie between those two.
I thought KYE was a class of 2023 card anyway.

Edit: "Past 12 months" instead of "this year"... seriously, with that question framing?

I gerrymandered it to include Showdown because I like Showdown.

This is an appropriate time to recognize the amazing artistry of the current 1E Art Team:

Andrea Heywood
Coen van der Horst
Felizan Stockinger
Jorn Engstrom
Martin Felber

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

How do I pick just one favorite image?
Answer: I don't!

Here's my Top 5:

#5 and #4
Daughter of Miral and Lt. Torres
Reason: I love the way they are looking at each other if you put the two cards side by side.

#3
Assist Temporal Disruption
Reason: I worked overtime to come up with the opposite side of Devidia II.

#2
Jonathan
Reason: The image captures Archer's confusion and disorientation in the episode.

#1
Edward Jellico (Showdown: Four Lights)
Reason: Something that I've learned from working the Remastered 1E Decipher files: Decipher was not shy about manipulating backgrounds in early sets. Example: Photoshopping out background characters on Noun cards. I've embraced that approach and as a result I believe the 1E image is superior to the same 2E image of Jellico. (easy 2E'ers - I worked on both!)

I never noticed this!

I agree. Personnel art should capture the essence of the story and this does a really good job of it.

I never noticed this, either! But you're definitely correct that this is a stronger image as a result.
