When Star: Trek Discovery first premiered, Michelle Yeoh's Phillips Georgiou was a braekout character. there was clamor for her to return, a request made difficult by the fact that they killed her character off in especially the end of the two hour pilot.

Unlike Spock, she would stay dead but the actress would come back to paly her mirror universe counterpart, a more interesting character brought back to our universe. She would stay with the series for years, even when the crew went centuries forward in time.

The character was written out due to travelling between universes and such a time period with the intention to lead a Section 31 spinoff. That was turned into a made-for-tv movie that will premiere on Friday, January 24, the first ever for the franchise!

For fun, I will post a series of questions below. You have until the debut to fill it out, but you must wait until January 21, whenever that is for you, to do so! Any entries posted prior to that date will not count! Also, since this is a pseudo draft, if there are ties, they will go to the earlier person to post. Also, new footage only.

Do we get any sort of verbal 'previously on' segment to start?

Does the 'previously on' section specifically state Discovery?

Do we open on a text crawl such as Voyager's Caretaker?

Does the Star Trek: Section 31 title card appear at the start, end or nowhere?

With the title logo be rectangular or square?

Which legacy (i.e. opening credits) actors return in another role? NOTE: You will get one point for each correct.

Which legacy characters (i.e. opening credits) characters return? NOTE: You will get one point for each correct.

Do we see Carl?

Do we hear the number thirty-two?

Which Enterprise do we see: Enterprise-B, Enterprise-C, any other Enterprise or none?

Do we start in the main time period of the feature?

Which other timeframes do we visit: Enterprise, The Original Series, TNG/DS9/Voyager, or none of the above?

Are we in the main time period at the end of the feature?

How many people does Georgiou kill?

How many credited main characters of Star Trek: Section 31 does Georgiou kill?

Do we see an anachronism?

Does
Fuzz
perform a
mindemeld
?

Is there any sort of ending text on the screen other than the title card?

Do we get a post-credits scene?

Will the runtime be the longest or shortest of any film in the franchise? If so, please specify either shortest or longest.

As many as you want but ...
WeyounsLastClone wrote:Or is it that you get a point for correct, but a negative point for incorrect?
Yes, I will deduct a point for each incorrect. You will not go into the negatives and it will be points for that question only.

No, but we will have dialogue that establishes Georgiou's backstory.
Faithful Reader wrote:Does the 'previously on' section specifically state Discovery?
I doubt the ship gets namedropped, but I'll say Burnham will.
Faithful Reader wrote:Do we open on a text crawl such as Voyager's Caretaker?
No.

After a "teaser," like in the Abrams movies.
Faithful Reader wrote:Will the title logo be rectangular or square?
The logo of the movie? Rectangular, I guess. The height will not be the same as the horizontal length.

I mean, that's probably debatable. Some viewers will probably say "yes" no matter what, so sure.

I have tried to keep spoiler free, though I watched the trailer. Yes.

I guess the question is will it be between 1:43 and 2:23. Yes. It will neither be the shortest or longest.

Relatively at the start, after an opening scene.

With the title logo be rectangular or square?
Rectangular

Which legacy (i.e. opening credits) actors return in another role? NOTE: You will get one point for each correct.
Do Discovery characters count? If so, I'll say Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp will show up up in another role (maybe mirror counterparts, but I guess I don't have to be specific :) )

Which legacy characters (i.e. opening credits) characters return? NOTE: You will get one point for each correct.
If Discovery counts, I think Burnham will show up.

Do we see Carl?
No

Do we hear the number thirty-two?
Yes

Which Enterprise do we see: Enterprise-B, Enterprise-C, any other Enterprise or none?
Original Enterprise

Do we start in the main time period of the feature?

Depending on definitions I guess, but yes.

Does perform a ?
Yes

Is there any sort of ending text on the screen other than the title card?
Besides credits? No

Do we get a post-credits scene?
No

All i can say is... what the FUCK was that?!
It was
Star Trek: Suicide Squad. A series of loosely interconnected fight scenes wrapped around a bunch of meaningless throwaway characters and a McGuffin plot designed to complete contracts and satisfy execs. There's a reason it was released straight to Paramount+.

4/10 - generally good fight choreography, cliche and boring everything else.

i haven't watched it yet but the trekcore bluesky account was hyping it up for a while and when they finally posted a review called it "dismal" and said "they forgot the star trek".

i wanted to watch it hoping it was good, now i honestly want to watch it just to see how bad it is lol

"they forgot the star trek".
At the risk of spoilering... this sums it up perfectly.

Well, almost perfectly. The little bit of Star Trek they did include was woefully done and made me the most nerd angry I've been in awhile.

Yeesh. I think the most generous I can be with this one is that, like TMP, it was clearly a pilot turned awkwardly into a movie.

Not the pinnacle of filmmaking sure, but Yeoh was great as Georgiou. The Hunger Games of it all not so much, but the phased fight was cool, at least. Plus, we find out a bit more about the downfall of the Empire. As for the characters, they were hit or miss and Georgiou is pretty much the only character in the former. Seriously, they brought back Rachel Garrett for this?

There are good TV films to be made from Trek, Short Treks proved it in a much shorter format. Hopefully, they learn the right lesson from this.

As for the draft, of the three entries, we had a two way tie which was broken by @The Guardian getting one in first.

geez that was bad. i was bored to death. a sloppy patchwork of old ideas from other movies just slapped together in a piss poor attempt to cash in on someone else's ideas. Was this movie written and directed by an AI? Seriously. This is the kind of trash you get from someone feeding old movies into chaptgpt and asking it to make you a new movie.

also, i'm sick to death of the epic 5 minute long hand-to-hand combat scenes using CGI/camera effects, etc, to make people movie in superhuman ways. like. it's been done. they all look the same. give me a plot. thanks.

They only thing this movie is suitable for is the MST3K/Rifftrax people.

[WARNING: SPOILERS AND VERY NSFW CONTENT UNDER THE SPOILER TABS - LIKE I SAID IT MADE ME VERY ANGRY.]

I agree that Michelle Yeoh did yeoman's work carrying that movie like the professional that she clearly is. Her performance wasn't what was wrong with this movie.

I didn't hate the idea of bringing back Rachel Garrett, but I HATED
that they basically made her Janeway. The female science officer who wants to be Captain? Really? That's the best you got? She's the future captain of the fucking ENTERPRISE for fuck sake. Give her a goddam original and intersting story worthy of her character!

I also HATED
the lazy hack job writing... really The Mirror Hunger Games? If I wanted that I would've just, I dunno... WATCHED THE FUCKING HUNGER GAMES! And the slow buildup of immunity to poison? If I wanted that I'd watch The Princess Bride! At least that would've been entertaining! By the end I was just waiting for the dude to drop an "As You Wish"... I mean, why not at this point? May as well lean all the way into the plagiarism.

I was able to get through 4 seasons of Disco just letting the stupidity roll and not getting emotionally invested enough to care. For some reason I cared about this movie. Maybe it was the Rachel Garrett angle. Yesterday's Enterprise is unambiguously my favorite single TNG episode, and seeing what they did to that character here... that apparently got me a visceral hit in the feels.

I didn't even get this angry when
Disney fucked up Star Wars.

Fuck
Alex Kurtzman. Nobody ever let him near Star Trek again. Hopefully somebody can pick up the pieces, and if not, we still have the first 50 years of the franchise to carry us through...

Ok, rant over. I feel better now. I apparently needed to release some pain.
