Good Morning, ‘Trek Fans!
In case you hadn’t heard, official CC league play will once again be returning to greater MN Land this fall / winter for our fourth season throughout the end of 2014 and into early 2015. For the historians out there, in our inaugural 2011-2012 season, Nat “The Beast from the East” Kirton claimed the title of league champion by roaring to life down the stretch and dominating the playoffs. Then, in 2012-2013 he went out and won the crown again by winning a furry Tribbles free-for-all in which as many as three other competitors could have claimed league gold. And finally, in a true nail biting affair, the reigning two time league champ and former league coordinator Jeremy “The Razor” Benedict were turned back by yours truly based on tie-breakers in a 2013-2014 season which saw countless high spots, most notably in player attendance.
Now, as we turn the page to the 2014-2015 season, all eyes will once again be on The Land of 10,000 Champions as top dawgs and rookies alike fight to prove they have what it takes to be a league champion… that they are indeed Tough Enough. With the baton being formally passed from our resident Chief Ambassador to myself, participants can anticipate a fairly smooth transition as many of our mores will remain intact moving forward. Just as in years prior, I anticipate the upcoming league season will be comprised of Second Edition, First Edition, and Tribbles tournaments with just enough alternative formats (e.g. Limited, Draft, & Block) splashed in as to keep things interesting. Schedules permitting, I am also hopeful that the Tournament Director triad consisting of Jeremy “The Razor” Benedict, “Crimson” Justin Kaufman, and myself will reunite to help spread out the work load of hosting the 12 tournaments that comprise a league season. And finally, look for bonus points to once again be part of official scoring in an effort to entice players to mix up the affiliations being played and to provide fuel for tie-breakers should they once again come into play.
As to specific events, the T2E Tough Enough league will kick-off in just a few short weeks with some furry breeding inside the spacious confines of the Fantasy Flight Games Event Center. Following this Tribbles and casual gaming fun fest with Galen “Lone Wolf” Sjöström and his zoo crew, we will turn our attention to the crowd pleasing and always entertaining Original Champion’s Challenge, which will see T2E Entertainment return to the lush R.H. Stafford Library atrium. This Premiere Only, play it as it reads, Second Edition constructed deck tournament has been a fan favorite for years, and in this the fourth installment attendance is expected to reach an all-time high.
With league play just over the horizon here in Minnesota, as always we are left with more questions than answers at this point. Such as will the New Blood keep the First Edition renaissance flowing? Will any invaders seek to stake a claim by attaining Frozen Chosen citizenship? Or will the entire league season once again hang on the outcome of one final game? Tune in to find out! Often imitated but never duplicated, the hottest brand going in the business today is T2E Entertainment. You gotta be there!
