Hello everyone!
It's time to continue our 30th Anniversary tournament series we're calling Voyage to Talos IV. Over the next 8 months, we'll be hosting a series of tournaments designed to celebrate the past, present, and future of First Edition. The more Voyage to Talos IV tournaments you play in, the more prizes you can win! And of course, you get to play Star Trek which is always a win.
Our 4th tournament is a fan favorite: Golden Age 1999! All cards released in Premiere through Rules of Acquisition are legal. In addition, we're taking some text off of cards and putting them back in the Rulebook where they were back when this card pool was THE card pool to play:
Here's the planned schedule:
I will acquire a Series V Tournament Kit, featuring cards legal in both Traditional and Modern play, to use as prizes for the event. If we end up with more than 8 players, I will acquire an additional tournament kit to add to the prize pool. Please note these promos should be available sometime after March, so there will be delay between the event and the distribution of the prizes.
Let's celebrate the 30th anniversary together with this Golden Age 1999. This has always been a popular format when run in the past, so let's see what you have up your sleeves this time. This is what Brian "Armus" Sykes said when this was run in 2023:

- The card Cybernetics Expertise is banned. Instead, the following game text is in effect by rule: "Once each turn, your android may report for free if Cybernetics present and may report to your personnel who has Cybernetics x2." (Yes, this is the pre-errata version! Have fun with your free androids!)
- The card White Deprivation. Instead, the full card text of that card is considered in effect for all games by rule.
- We will be using the Borg Outpost Rule. Players may seed their Borg Outpost on the table "In the Delta Quadrant" and play Borg 1999 style!
Here's the planned schedule:
Monday 4/7/25: Announce Round 1 PairingsI will happily work with all potential players if extensions are required, as long as you are upfront and honest about scheduling issues.
Monday 4/14/25: Announce Round 2 Pairings
Monday 4/21/25: Announce Round 3 Pairings
Monday 4/28/25: Announce Round 4 Pairings (If Necessary)

If you haven't played in this era, or haven't played in this era since 1999, I HIGHLY encourage you to give it a shot. This is a great card pool under Modern rules with a slightly slower game pace, but none of the cheese from back in the day. I had a blast playing last time around and would recommend it to just about anybody.Let's see what you've got!
